Program runs July 6 - 24 (5 days per week, 8:45 am – 3:15 pm).Site and Location: East & West – In-person Learning with onsite programs being offered.Elementary School Locations: Archbishop O'Sullivan Catholic School, St. Michael Catholic School, St. Peter Catholic School, St. Francis Catholic School.LSDC Locations: Georges Vanier Catholic School, St. Paul Catholic Secondary School, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School, Regiopolis Notre Dame Catholic High School (Set up day on July 2 or July 3, 2026, for LSDC).About The ALCDSBThe Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board serves approximately 12,000 students, employs over 1,400 full-time equivalent staff, and covers a geographical area of more than 16,000 square kilometers (Whitney in the North, Picton in the South, Trenton in the West, and Kingston in the East).The ALCDSB builds faith-filled learning communities where each member is loved, inspired, and successful.Position SummaryAs a team member and under the supervision and guidance of the Principal and direction of the Teacher, the Summer Learning Assistant (SLA) is responsible for supporting the in-person summer learning program. The SLA will provide instructional support, facilitate communication, implement plans,



and foster the educational and social skills of any students with special needs as assigned by the Principal and Teacher. The SLA will also perform the following duties as defined by the teaching staff: implement all strategies as directed by the teacher(s) responsible for programming; preparation of program support materials for supported students; engage in large group, small group and individual reinforcement of taught skills.The Elementary Summer Learning Program focus is Literacy & Numeracy, with a feature on learner profiles. The SLA will support students in grades 1-2 in the program.In the Elementary and Secondary LSDCs Summer Learning Program, the SLA will support students with complex needs in the life skills program as directed by the teacher. SLAs will provide physical needs support, implement support plans, contribute to the total care and well-being of the students, and assist with supervision.QualificationsCommunity College Diploma in one of the following: Behaviour Science Technology, Developmental Service Worker, Child Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Early Childhood Education and/or equivalent work-related experience.Two to three years of previous experience working with children/adolescents with learning or developmental disabilities in a formal environment.Proven ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team.Solid computer skills and demonstrated understanding of virtual meeting software.Excellent verbal skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Capable of working in various settings.An understanding of school responsibility for learner progress.Must be able to function independently,
