Position: Case Coordinator The Agency The John Howard Society of Red Deer is a non-profit organization working to promote community harmony through the advocation of human dignity and social justice. We support and serve those involved in the justice system through a restorative process and believe in treating every person with fairness, dignity and compassion while holding each person accountable for their own behavior.

The Project

Central Alberta Drug Treatment Court Services offers community-based treatment support services to the participants of the Central Alberta Drug Treatment Court -Provincial Court of Alberta – program.

Working together within a multi-disciplinary team, the Drug Treatment Court program involves a process of intensive judicial supervision, treatment, rehabilitation, and community reintegration for individuals who have become involved in the criminal justice system because of their substance use disorder. The program works in partnership with multiple government ministries, community agencies, and organizations to provide the link to resources for participants.

The Position

Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Case Coordinator will provide their exemplary case management skills in supervising, supporting, and coaching participants in the program. Case Coordination will include liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team, other community and governmental organizations, treatment facilities and landlords to ensure comprehensive wrap around services for each participant.

The Case





Coordinator will build individualized treatment plans for each program participant following the principles and policies of Drug Treatment Court.

As an ideal candidate you will have:

Mandatory Requirements

- A minimum of a degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, or equivalent human service focus
- Minimum two years of experience in the last 5 years working with vulnerable populations.
- A valid driver’s license, registration, insurance, and a reliable vehicle
- A clean criminal record and child welfare check
- The ability to work a standard Monday – Friday schedule with some flexibility for occasional after hours and weekend work.

- Strong ethics, accountability, and adherence to standards of practice.

Desirable provisions
- Experience working specifically within the criminal justice system and/or addictions community
- Self-motivated, flexible, person-centered, with strong personal/qualified boundaries
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
- First Aid with CPR
