Help Make Ty Watson House Feel Like Home The Alberni Valley Hospice Society is seeking a compassionate and dependable Cook to join our team at Ty Watson House, a four-bed community hospice serving Port Alberni and the surrounding region.

This is much more than a cooking position. We are looking for someone who understands the comfort that comes from a warm kitchen, the smell of fresh baking, and a home-cooked meal shared with family. The ideal candidate enjoys caring for others, takes pride in creating welcoming spaces, and understands the important role food plays in bringing comfort during life's final journey.

This position would be ideal for a retired or semi-retired individual looking for meaningful part-time work that makes a difference in the lives of hospice residents and their families.

What You'll Do

- Prepare nutritious, home-style meals, soups, baking, and snacks for hospice residents and their families.
- Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere through the preparation of fresh, comforting foods.
- Adapt meals to accommodate dietary needs, allergies, and individual preferences.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and kitchen organization.
- Manage kitchen supplies and notify staff when groceries or supplies are needed.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties during downtime, including tidying common areas, light cleaning, loading and unloading the dishwasher, and other general household tasks that help maintain a comfortable home-like environment.




- Work collaboratively with hospice staff and volunteers to support residents and their families.

- Has a warm, caring, and compassionate personality.
- Understands how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
- Is comfortable working independently.
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness and food safety. Has Food Safe.
- Enjoys interacting with residents, families, staff, and volunteers.
- Able to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.
- Has previous cooking, catering, hospitality, or food service experience (preferred but not required).
