Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is a premier culinary destination in the Bow Valley, operating three restaurants—Maclab Bistro, Vistas Dining Room, and Le Café—alongside numerous banquet and reception events.The OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Manager to assist in the smooth and efficient operation of food and beverage services across campus, ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service and strong leadership of teams. The role includes oversight of Maclab Bistro and support to the broader food and beverage management team.Roles And ResponsibilitiesDirect the daily work of all food and beverage employees, ensuring adherence to company policies and the delivery of exceptional customer service.Prepare a daily work plan, make decisions required for the planning of weekly requirements, and assess future service requirements for resources needed.Oversee MacLab Bistro and provide managerial assistance across all Food and Beverage areas.Participate in the recruitment, selection, training and scheduling of staff as needed.Provide direction and feedback to staff in the form of coaching and performance management.Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of all food and beverage areas and equipment at all times.Manage retail operations, including ordering and buying inventory, maintaining inventory levels, and promoting display of inventory.Assist the Senior Food and Beverage Manager in setting budgetary requirements and make recommendations regarding the annual operating and capital budget.Handle daily issuing of cash floats, reconcile cash-outs,
and remit to the Finance department.Qualification and Educational RequirementsMinimum 3 years’ experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in a multi-outlet food and beverage operation with knowledge of banquet/meeting set‑ups, a la carte dining, fine dining, buffets, and cafeterias.Degree in Hospitality Management considered an asset.Previous experience in training and directing up to 25 employees in a food and beverage environment.Knowledge of Alberta Serve Safe and Alberta ProServe is required.Comfortable working knowledge of MS Office and point‑of‑sale machines.Valid driver’s license.Available for shift work, overtime, and split‑shifts as needed.Special RequirementsDue to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.Emergency first aid training is required; training will be provided.Employment Terms & BenefitsPermanent, full‑time position subject to a six‑month probation period, working 40 hours per week.Salary range: $51,731 to $73,983, commensurate with experience.Twenty paid vacation days and four personal days annually, extended medical and dental benefits, and participation in an employer‑matched pension plan.Benefits of working at Banff Centre include:Transitional staff housing options (based on availability)Skilled developmentEmployee Assistance ProgramHealth care spending accountStaff cafeteria and restaurant discountsOn‑site fitness facility at a discounted rate – first month free for new staff.Commitment to DiversityBanff Centre for Arts and Creativity is committed to creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive campus.
