Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT)Overview
ProMed Pharmacy is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team. The successful candidate will support prescription processing, medication preparation, compliance packaging, inventory management, and the safe and effective operation of the pharmacy.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently.
- Enter and maintain patient, prescription, and insurance information.
- Prepare, package, label, and organize medications in accordance with Ontario pharmacy standards.
- Perform technical checks and other authorized activities within the scope of practice of a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
- Assist with compliance packaging and medication cycle preparation.
- Maintain accurate prescription, inventory, and patient records.
- Process third-party insurance claims and resolve billing issues.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, restocking, and monitoring expiry dates.
- Communicate with patients, caregivers, prescribers, long-term-care staff, and other healthcare professionals when appropriate.
- Refer clinical questions and medication counselling requests to the pharmacist.
- Follow all applicable privacy, safety, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Support other pharmacy operations as required.
Qualifications
- Registered Pharmacy Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program.
- Previous community or long-term-care pharmacy experience is required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety.
- Excellent organization, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Comfortable working in a busy environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Experience with pharmacy management software is considered an asset.
