The Childcare Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development, and delivery of high-quality programs for children, including licensed childcare and afterschool programs.

The Childcare Coordinator ensures programs are safe, engaging, and aligned with the mission, vision, and values of BGC Brantford, promoting the health, well-being, and development of children, youth, and families.

Monday through Friday - as per working schedule - FT - 40 hours per week

Due to the nature of the Club's business, staff cannot always be confined rigidly to a definite schedule of hours - 'flex' time WILL be required

TRAINING:

Education: Post Secondary Diploma/Degree in Early Childhood Education; Registration with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)

Qualifications: Current First Aid/CPR

Experience: 5-10 years previous experience working within a licensed childcare environment or similar

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan, implement, and evaluate programs: Develop and oversee high-quality licensed childcare and afterschool programs ensuring they are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with the Club’s mission, vision, and values
- Lead, supervise, and mentor staff and volunteers, providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure programs are delivered consistently and in accordance with Club standards and best practices.
- Ensure all programs comply with licensing, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Regularly assess program effectiveness by soliciting feedback from supervisor, co-leaders, children, and families; analyze outcomes and recommend modifications to enhance programming and better meet the developmental, social, and cultural needs of participants
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate program records, including attendance logs, incident reports, and program evaluations, to support accountability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement




- Maintain proactive and open communication with parents or guardians regarding their child’s participation, progress, challenges, and achievements within programs
- Assist the Childcare supervisor in day-to-day operations and participate in ensuring compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements.

Health and Safety

- Ensures that program areas and their equipment maintain a level of safety and in a state that reflects the high standards of the organization. Toys and equipment are sanitized as needed (i.e.. Increased frequency during times of illness). Safety concerns are reported to the supervisor.
- Administers First Aid/CPR as necessary.
- Conducts daily playground check to ensure space and environment meets safety requirements

Physical Demands There are high physical demands associated with this position such as lifting up to 50lbs, bending, squatting, sitting, twisting, reaching, etc..

Working Conditions

Position works in an air conditioned environment, however, is also required to provide several hours of outdoor programming during all seasons (spring, summer, fall and winter)

Due to the number of children serviced the working environment can be extremely loud during peak hours of operation.

The environment can be fast paced and demanding – position is required to be extremely resourceful, ‘think quick on their feet’, manage multiply tasks and issues, able to prioritize and resolve issues effectively, thoroughly, and effectively.

SUPERVISION

Character - Position is responsible for the direct supervision of children
