Cladding Installer Foreman – Weatherguard Metals Ltd.

Weatherguard Metals Ltd. is looking for experienced Cladding Installer Foremen to lead crews on commercial and industrial building-envelope projects throughout Alberta.

The Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the job site and crew, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, and Weatherguard standards.

The successful candidate will be an experienced installer who is ready to take responsibility for people, production, quality, safety, materials, equipment, and overall site execution.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesCrew Leadership & Site Supervision

- Lead and supervise a crew of cladders and labourers on commercial and industrial construction sites.
- Assign daily tasks and responsibilities to crew members based on project priorities and schedule requirements.
- Provide direction, training, and on-the-job coaching to junior installers and labourers.
- Monitor crew productivity and ensure work is progressing according to schedule.
- Maintain a professional, productive, and respectful work environment.
- Hold crew members accountable for workmanship, productivity, safety, attendance, and proper use of company equipment.
- Communicate daily priorities, changes, issues, and project requirements to the Project Manager and Operations Manager.
- Coordinate work with other trades, contractors, site supervisors, and project personnel as required.
- Identify potential problems before they impact schedule, quality, or cost.

Installation & Building Envelope

- Install exterior prefabricated products and building-envelope systems.
- Install metal cladding, architectural sheet metal, standing seam metal roofing, flashings, trims, and related systems.
- Install insulated metal panels and other building-envelope products as required.
- Install insulation and building-envelope components behind cladding systems.
- Perform ACM and other architectural cladding installations.
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, details, and installation instructions.
- Determine layout and installation procedures from drawings and project requirements.
- Measure and mark guidelines and reference points for installation.
- Complete accurate measurements, layouts, cuts, and installations.
- Install sheet metal flashings, trims, closures, and related components.
- Measure and cut insulating materials to the required shape and dimensions.
- Position and secure sheets and panels to metal or wooden studs, girts, joists, and other substrates.
- Repair and service exterior and interior prefabricated products as required.
- Identify deficiencies and complete corrective work.

Quality Control

- Ensure all work meets project drawings, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and Weatherguard quality standards.
- Inspect completed work for alignment, fastening, detailing, waterproofing, appearance, and overall workmanship.
- Identify and correct installation deficiencies before work is covered or turned over.
- Confirm dimensions and layouts before installation.
- Protect completed work from damage caused by ongoing construction activities.
- Communicate material, design, drawing, or installation issues to the Project Manager.

Safety & Site Responsibilities





- Take responsibility for maintaining a secure work site and ensuring crew members follow company and site safety requirements.
- Conduct and participate in daily toolbox meetings and job hazard assessments.
- Ensure appropriate PPE and fall-protection systems are being used.
- Identify hazards and take corrective action when unsafe conditions are observed.
- Ensure proper use of aerial lifts, scaffolding, ladders, cranes, and other access equipment.
- Report incidents, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns to management.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area.
- Ensure tools, equipment, materials, and company vehicles are properly maintained and secured.

Materials, Equipment & Logistics

- Prepare and maintain materials, tools, and equipment required for daily production.
- Coordinate material requirements with the Project Manager.
- Identify shortages or incorrect materials before they affect production.
- Load and unload trucks with materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure materials are properly stored, protected, and handled on site.
- Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Operate and work from man-lifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and other lifting equipment.
- Erect and work from scaffolding, falsework, and other working platforms where required.

Required Experience & Skills

- Minimum 3 years of experience in commercial/industrial cladding, roofing, or building-envelope installation.
- Previous experience leading a construction crew or acting as a Lead Hand/Foreman is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial building-envelope construction.
- Experience with metal cladding and architectural sheet metal.
- Experience with metal roofing, including standing seam and/or screw-down roofing.
- Experience with ACM/metal composite panels is an asset.
- Experience with insulated metal panels is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and construction details.
- Strong understanding of layout, measurements, fastening systems, flashing, waterproofing, and building-envelope detailing.
- Ability to identify installation problems and determine practical solutions.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions on site.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and maintain production under schedule pressure.

Certificates, Licences, Memberships and Courses

- Aerial lift and aerial work platform certification.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate.
- Fall Arrest Protection Training.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
- Additional construction safety certifications are considered an asset.

Salary $28.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, leadership ability, and demonstrated competency.

40–70 hours per week, depending on project requirements.

Overtime available and required as necessary.
