Class 1 Driver – Open Deck / LCV ExperienceJob Overview

We are seeking a dependable, safety-minded Class 1 Driver to join our transportation team. This position is well suited to an experienced driver who is comfortable working independently, handling a variety of freight, and operating different commercial configurations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of freight while maintaining a high standard of vehicle inspection, cargo securement, documentation, and customer service.

Experience with open-deck trailers, load securement, LCV operations, and building commercial truck combinations is considered a strong asset.

Duties

- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks and trailers while complying with all applicable traffic, hours-of-service, and transportation regulations
- Perform thorough pre-trip, post-trip, and ongoing vehicle inspections
- Safely load, unload, distribute, and secure freight using chains, binders, straps, tarps, edge protection, and other appropriate securement equipment
- Build and configure open-deck combinations, including flat deck, step deck, and other trailer configurations as required
- Demonstrate the ability to safely work with open-deck and oversized/irregular freight
- Obtain and maintain required permits, including LCV permits, where applicable
- Operate LCV and other permitted commercial configurations in accordance with applicable requirements
- Complete accurate bills of lading, delivery documentation, inspection reports, permits, and other required paperwork
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, shippers, receivers, and job-site personnel




- Work independently and make sound decisions regarding weather, road conditions, loading, securement, routing, and equipment
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs when necessary, and identify mechanical issues before they become safety concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional truck and work setting
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures and contribute to a strong safety culture
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with customers and the public

Required Qualifications

- Valid Class 1 driver's licence
- Clean and acceptable driver's abstract
- Demonstrated commercial trucking experience
- Strong knowledge of cargo securement requirements and best practices
- Ability to complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of applicable transportation and hours-of-service regulations
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic

Preferred / Asset Qualifications

- Open-deck / flat-deck experience
- Experience building and operating tractor/trailer combinations
- LCV experience or eligibility/willingness to obtain the required LCV qualifications and permits
- Experience hauling oversized, irregular,



construction, industrial, or heavy freight
- Experience with step deck, double drop, or other specialized trailers
- Experience with tarping and specialized load securement
- Forklift or other heavy-equipment experience
- Mechanical aptitude and basic truck/trailer troubleshooting skills
- Experience working at industrial, construction, oilfield, or remote job sites
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices and electronic trip documentation
- Experience travelling throughout Alberta and Western Canada

Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour
