About the Role

We're hiring a Closet Designer to join our team directly — no separate unpaid training program, no waiting for a cohort to fill. You'll be hired as a full Alberta Closet employee from day one, paid throughout a structured training curriculum covering our product catalog, LiveStorage 3D design software, and in-home client consultation skills, and you'll begin running your own consultations under mentorship as you progress through your probationary period.

As a Closet Designer, you'll be the client's first point of contact with Alberta Closet: visiting homes, understanding how people actually live, measuring and designing their space, and presenting a proposal they're excited to sign.

What You'll Do

- Conduct in-home consultations — measuring spaces, discussing needs and budget, and building rapport with clients in their own homes
- Design custom storage systems using LiveStorage, our 3D design software, live in front of the client
- Recommend materials, finishes, and hardware that fit each client's style and budget
- Generate accurate parts lists, elevation drawings, and pricing quotes
- Present proposals, handle objections professionally, and close sales
- Hand off completed design files to production and installation with everything they need to execute without a callback
- Follow up with clients post-installation to confirm satisfaction and build referral business





Training & Onboarding Training is fully paid and built into your first weeks on the job — there is no unpaid prerequisite program. Your onboarding covers:

- Company foundations, the customer journey, and professional presence on a first consultation
- Measuring and space planning fundamentals
- Product and materials knowledge across our full catalog
- Hands-on LiveStorage design studio training
- Client experience: discovery, presentation, pricing, objection-handling, and closing
- Shadowing experienced designers on real consultations before running your own

Probationary Period This role includes a standard 90-day probationary period. You are paid your full wage throughout. Your progress is reviewed against training milestones as you go, with a formal performance evaluation near the end of probation to confirm the role on a permanent basis.

Compensation

- Base salary, plus mileage reimbursement and a commission on completed projects
- Starter kit provided on confirmation (laptop setup, LiveStorage license, swatch and sample kit)
- Transparent advancement path: Designer → Senior Designer → Design Lead, with performance reviews every 6 months

What We're Looking For

- Strong communication skills and genuine comfort talking with people in their homes
- Comfort with numbers, measurements, and basic technology (no CAD experience required — we train LiveStorage from scratch)
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented — small measurement errors become expensive mistakes downstream
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (this role requires daily travel to client homes)
- Interest in design, space planning, or a consultative sales career
- Experience in closet design, cabinetry, or interior design is required

Pay: $17.00 per hour
