SUMMARYReporting to the Executive Chef, this role assists with supervising all aspects of food production for Café, Outlets and support for banquets. The Line Cook will perform the assigned tasks while adhering to food protected practices and established culinary standards.ACCOUNTABILITIESEnhance the reputation of the Vancouver Aquarium as a preferred event and visitor destination through consistent food preparation and the highest caliber of food:Assist in the supervision of all aspects of food preparation, portioning, and food presentation as established through recipes and production sheets; Maintain open lines of communication between Front and Back of house operations; Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef/Sous Chef/Chef de Partie; Operate all kitchen equipment according to recommended operating instructionsMaintain a safe, sanitary and organized work area and kitchen:Ensure strict adherence to guidelines outlined in the Food Safe program. All food items must be covered,



labelled and dated; Supervise all aspects ofkitchen cleaning; keep standards procedures and levels of cleanliness enforced.Consciously desires to improve Vancouver Aquarium and its processes by:Promptly aid in Emergency protocol; Maintain and support organizational safety standards; Continually improve our impact on the environment and greening of operations through support of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) protocols; Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTSFood Safe certification requiredProof of Hepatitis A vaccination or immunity required2 years of valid kitchen experience required, including 6 months of supervisory experienceKnowledge of produce, meat, fish and other various foods requiredExcellent time management and multi-tasking skillsStrong communication skillsStrong team skills with an ability to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to perform in fast paced high pressure environments; Strong internal and external customer service skills with "can-do" attitude;Active demonstration of the company’s values and mission; Basic knowledge ofMicrosoft Office required.Ability to stand for extended periods of timeAbility to safely bend, lift, move food products and other items (up to 50 lbs)Ability to safely reach and stretch, in order to prepare food and working with various kitchen equipmentBe available during the week, including evenings, weekends and holidays is requiredSALARY RANGE: $19 - $25 PER HOUR#J-18808-Ljbffr
