Job Duties

- Study blueprints and computer-aided drafting (CAD) software of products to be produced to determine programming needs.
- Study and interpret engineering drawings, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
- Determine machining operations, the sequence in which machining operations must be carried out, and the time required to finish the job to efficiently manufacture the product.
- Based upon specifications, write programs to accomplish the various machining operations as per the determined sequence and dimensions of the finished product.
- Provide assistance in planning the production cycle in order to set and achieve optimal production targets.
- Ensure all CNC programming written is in accordance with production blueprints and quality standards.
- Provide assistance to CNC operators in setting up new programs.
- Prior to full implementation, put machinery through first offs to ensure programming is working effectively. Note discrepancies between blueprint specifications and test products as they arise and provide resolution through program adjustment.
- Continually maintain the CNC programming database.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose common CNC problems.
- Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications.
- Communicate with supervisors, machine operator, engineers, production control, quality and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
- Operate machines when / if necessary.
- Within the scope of the job requirements, will be required to adhere and comply with all company policies and health and safety procedures.
- Other duties as required.

Requirements

- Post-secondary diploma or certification in a related field preferred.
- Some college or industry courses in related field.
- Experience in Mastercam is required.
- Must be mechanically inclined
- Experience in CNC programming in a manufacturing setting considered an asset.
- Familiarity with milling machine software and understanding of machining operations
- Experience with AutoCAD (2d drafting) a definite asset.
- Experience with 3d modeling programs such as Creo/Pro Engineer, AutoCAD inventor, solidworks, Rhino, Sketchup, Catia an asset.
- Ability to edit existing programs as well as test new programming.
- Must be proficient in computer use, comfortable with Microsoft office programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
- Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Accurate and highly analytical. Able to make sound decisions.
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Must be a self-starter, willing to always learn new things.
- Must be motivated and dedicated to their work

Financial Data and Cost Analyst This is an excellent opportunity to join the finance team and leverage strong analytical and data-driven capabilities to support financial and operational decision-making in a manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for transforming financial and operational data into actionable insights, with a focus on cost analysis, inventory valuation, and performance reporting.

The ideal candidate combines a strong foundation in accounting with advanced data analysis skills. You bring experience working with ERP systems, large datasets, and BI tools, and have the ability to interpret manufacturing data (BOMs, routings, work centers) and translate it into meaningful financial insights that drive business performance.

This position works closely with Senior Management, Finance, Production, Supply Chain, and Operations to support data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze large datasets related to manufacturing costs, inventory, and production performance to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (Power BI / Excel) to track KPIs such as gross margin, inventory performance, and cost variances
- Perform detailed margin analysis by customer, product, and job, identifying key cost drivers
- Monitor production jobs and proactively flag potential gross profit risks
- Build and automate recurring financial and operational reports to improve accuracy and efficiency
- Conduct variance analysis on inventory, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing overhead
- Reconcile inventory-related general ledger accounts and ensure data integrity across systems
- Build, update, and maintain the company’s annual operating plan and longer-term 5 year forecast.
- Support month-end and year-end processes through data validation and reporting
- Analyze impacts of changes in bills of materials, product design, materials, and manufacturing methods on cost structure
- Partner with operations teams to help interpret financial results and improve cost visibility
- Support budgeting and forecasting through historical trend analysis and predictive insights
- Assist in developing and tracking KPIs to measure plant and operational performance
- Act as a subject matter expert for ERP data, BI reporting, and data governance within finance
- Identify opportunities for automation, process improvements, and enhanced analytical reporting

Qualifications

- CPA designation or equivalent experience preferred
- 5–10 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, audit, or cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and manufacturing cost drivers (BOMs, routings, work centers)
- Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, data modeling, VBA, Python)
- Experience with Power BI, SQL, or other data analytics / visualization tools
- Experience working with ERP and accounting systems (e.g., Global Shop, Sage, Netsuite or similar)
- Knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS), with exposure to U.S. (GAAP) and U.K. accounting frameworks considered a strong asset
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
- Solid attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to communicate complex financial and operational data to non-finance stakeholders
