The Schizophrenia Society of Alberta (SSA) is a not-for-profit organization that supports Albertans affected by schizophrenia and works to increase public awareness and understanding of schizophrenia while reducing stigma and discrimination due to this illness.
The SSA is seeking a full time Community Education Program Coordinator for our Calgary branch.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Provincial Program Director, the Community Education Program Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Community Education Program and will assist with other programs in the Calgary branch.
- The program coordinator will be responsible for maintaining effective programs, overseeing activities and details, and assisting the Provincial Program Director with the measurement of overall success.
Coordination of individual programs will include but not be limited to: Community Education Program: Responsible for forming and maintaining community partnerships and opportunities, offering ongoing support to presenters, and ensure high-quality educational presentation.
Starry Night Theatre Group: Responsible for forming and maintaining community partnerships and opportunities, offering ongoing support to performers, and ensure high quality performances
- Promote and raise awareness of the programs in the community
- Gain referrals for the programs through relationships with other community agencies and promotional activities
- Arranging/scheduling presentations and performances
- Overseeing presentations
- Recruit and train presenters and performers
- Administrative duties related to the programs
- Other duties as required
Some evening and weekend work may be required and flex time will be encouraged.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree or Diploma in the Human Services field (social work, psychology, and other social service or health related fields).
- Minimum of three years experience working with people living with schizophrenia or other related mental health disorders.
- Experience in Program facilitation and public speaking
- Strong Knowledge of schizophrenia or psychosis, and community resources
- Proficiency with computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel as well as Zoom and other online meeting formats
- Demonstrated initiative, reliability, flexibility and sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as the ability to work within a team setting.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, time management, interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have valid Criminal Record check
- Must have valid Driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
Full-time: 37.5 hours per week Compensation: $ 26.00 per hour + comprehensive benefits package
