Position Overview We are seeking an additional team member to complement SB’s established and long-standing support team. SB is enjoyable to work with, which has contributed to her strong, stable staff group. She shares her home with a roommate and a cat and values a lifestyle that blends fun, calm moments, and healthy activities. Her interests include movies, theatre, and sailing, among others.
SB primarily communicates quietly and uses a picture-based communication book, as well as eye movement and body language, to express her needs. While learning her communication style takes some time, it becomes very intuitive once familiar.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full personal care support, including assistance with transfers using a ceiling lift
- Support SB with feeding tube care
- Accompany SB to appointments and community activities as needed
- Participate in all required training (provided by Spectrum Society)
Compensation
- Community Support Worker (CSW): $26–$28.25 per hour
Probationary Period
- 3 months
Driver’s License Requirement
- Valid Class 4 Driver’s License (or willingness to obtain)
***Spectrum Society for Community Living will cover all costs related to obtaining or renewing a Class 4 license, including ICBC fees, medical exam costs, and up to three hours of paid driving instruction to prepare for the road test.
Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting individuals who experience anxiety
- Ability to encourage participation, motivation, and engagement in meaningful activities
- Comfortable using basic computer programs such as email, Word, and internet tools
Expected hours of work: Saturdays, 8am to 6:30pm
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00-$28.25 per hour
