COMMUNITY YOUTH/FAMILY AIDE WORKER for Barrhead and Westlock Area

(Part-time Temporary Position until November 26, 2027)

About the position:

The Community Youth/Family Aide Worker provides direct support to children, youth, and families experiencing a variety of social, emotional, behavioral, and family-related challenges. Working collaboratively with individuals, families, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams, the Community Youth/Family Aide Worker delivers strength-based counseling, life skills development, crisis intervention, and practical support services to help clients achieve their goals and enhance their overall well-being. This role assists with case planning, service coordination, and community engagement while promoting safety, stability, family connections, and community inclusion.

Through compassionate relationship-building, advocacy, and mentorship, the Community Youth / Family Aide Worker empowers youth and families to develop healthy coping strategies, strengthen family functioning, access community resources, and build the skills necessary for long-term success and independence. The successful candidate demonstrates strong communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills and is committed to delivering services that align with McMan's values, policies, and standards of excellence.

Hours: 22 hours per week, The hours for this position will vary depending on the needs of the program, and may include some evenings and weekends

Location: Barrhead and Westlock Area, Alberta.

What you’ll do:

· Connect with and develop helping relationships with families

· Act as a strong advocate for the individuals in the community





· Work effectively as a team with the families and their support team to help them achieve their goals

· Counsel families and youth, assess family issues, supervise visits

· Assist with competency skill development and provide goal planning and intervention strategies

· Provide assistance to the Safe Visitation Program when needed

What you bring:

· Completion of Degree or Diploma in Human Services Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.

· Six (6) months of directly related experience in youth/family work

· Equivalencies may be considered

· Police Information Check including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (within the last 6 months)

· Children Services Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)

· Emergency First Aid—Level C CPR + AED

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license, a current driver’s abstract, auto insurance with a minimum of $2 million third-party liability coverage, and access to a reliable vehicle are required.

· Trauma informed care practices

· Good verbal and written communication skills

· Strong computer/word processing skills

· Strong counseling, program planning, organization and mediation skills





· Direct experience supporting Indigenous youth, and their families is a solid asset

· Demonstrated ability to apply the CARE model in supporting children and youth.

· Knowledge of family violence is an asset
