Construction Purchaser / Procurement Coordinator – Full-Time

As our project portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a Construction Purchaser / Procurement Coordinator to join our team and support the purchasing and material coordination needs of our construction projects.
Position Overview The Construction Purchaser will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing construction materials, equipment, tools, and other project-related supplies.
The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Site Supervisors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure materials are purchased at competitive prices and delivered to project sites according to construction schedules.
This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, cost awareness, and the ability to manage multiple purchasing requests and deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase construction materials, equipment, tools, and project supplies
- Obtain and compare quotations from multiple suppliers
- Evaluate pricing, product specifications, availability, lead times, and payment terms
- Prepare, issue, and track Purchase Orders (POs)
- Negotiate pricing and purchasing terms with suppliers when appropriate
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Estimators, and Site Supervisors to confirm material specifications, quantities, and required delivery dates
- Monitor orders from placement through delivery and ensure materials arrive on schedule
- Coordinate deliveries to construction sites across the GTA and other project locations in Ontario
- Resolve purchasing issues including shortages, delays, incorrect materials, damaged products, returns, and replacements
- Identify alternative products or suppliers when required materials are unavailable or project timelines are at risk
- Develop and maintain relationships with reliable suppliers and vendors
- Research new suppliers and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Monitor market pricing and assist with construction material cost control
- Maintain accurate records of quotations, purchase orders, invoices, delivery documents, and supplier information
- Assist with matching purchase orders, delivery records, and supplier invoices
- Support urgent purchasing requirements based on project and site needs
- Perform other procurement and project coordination duties as required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or a related position is preferred
- Experience with construction materials, equipment, and suppliers is a strong asset
- Ability to understand basic construction drawings, material lists, and specifications is preferred
- Strong sourcing, quotation comparison, negotiation, and cost-analysis skills
- Strong numerical skills and cost-control awareness
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Purchase Orders, ERP systems,
or construction management software is an asset
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, purchase orders, and urgent requests simultaneously
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to work independently and proactively follow orders through to final delivery
- Good command of English; Mandarin or Cantonese is an asset
- Valid Ontario driver's licence is an asset
