OverviewJob Title: Accounts Adjuster. Job Type: Permanent Full Time. Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Department: Finance. Open Positions: 1. Posting Date: June 4, 2026. Salary: $56,039.30 - $64,964.89 / Year.Reports to: Manager Operations, Provincial Case Management Office (PCMO).Key accountabilitiesReview and payment of Big Case Management (BCM), Protocol (MAG & DOJ) accountsCorrespond with Case Managers where discrepancies on budgeted accounts are discoveredProcess discretion and disbursement requests on PCU and non-budgeted matters within established guidelinesPrepare discretion and disbursement requests beyond predetermined threshold or complexity and refer to case managersRespond to internal and external correspondence relating to accounts and billing issuesUpdate purchase orders as required to facilitate payment of accounts and disbursementsMaintain accurate records of settled accounts within PeopleSoftAssist with resolution of lawyers’ concerns regarding billing and settlement of accountsDetermination and recovery of overpayments from lawyersAssist with updating/creation of Job Aids and Departmental manualsSupport troubleshooting efforts and proactively identify opportunities to optimize and enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency,
and insightsOther duties as assignedRequired skills & experienceCompletion of a business/accounting program and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience acquired through past work experienceKnowledge of LAO Tariff and Billing Handbook and the Disbursement HandbookKnowledge of LAO office and administrative procedures complemented by background knowledge of the Legal Aid Services Act and regulations as it relates to the tariffKnowledge of court and tribunal processes acquired through experience or learning (e.G. law clerk, certified paralegal, Legal Aid Worker)Customer service/interpersonal skills to effectively and efficiently respond to queries from lawyersUnderstanding of LAO 's account payment processesBasic mathematical skills involving straightforward equations such as calculating ratios or percentagesDecision-making skills to deal with variations from established Legal Aid tariff guidelinesTime management skills and attention to detail (careful review of accounts)Computer skills necessary to use software applications (Microsoft Office, Excel, PeopleSoft) for word processing, setting up and formatting reports, and analyzing data using spreadsheetsWhat we offerComprehensive benefits package including health and wellness, dental, life insurance, Basic AD&D, Short-Term Disability (STD), and Long-Term Disability (LTD)Generous paid time-off policy including vacation days, illness days, discretionary days and statutory holidaysOPSEU Pension Plan eligibilityNote: This description reflects the current responsibilities and requirements of the role and may be subject to change.
