OVERVIEWYou are an engineer/technologist with leadership experience in a fast‑paced, complex manufacturing operation. You have a proven track record and a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement. You enjoy a challenge and have the energy and vision to recognize and implement improvement opportunities both independently and as part of a team with members of all levels of an organization.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESAccountable for identifying and implementing improvements in process equipment throughput, quality, safety and efficiency.Manage day‑to‑day issues and operations in the refinery.Work closely with operational personnel to understand problems, perform troubleshooting and develop solutions together.Use continuous improvement skills to enhance system reliability and identify/implement productivity and cost improvements, including new technologies.Show thorough understanding of the interactions between machine, materials, methods, environment, and people to provide robust operating systems.Provide key technical support in capital projects and new product and process equipment testing/start‑ups.Ensure safety and quality aspects of equipment meet company requirements.Provide documentation, operator and maintenance training and support.Design and develop capital projects for new equipment installation.Provide guidance, training and development to supervisors and hourly operators.Other duties as assigned.EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCEB.S. degree (or technology diploma) in Engineering, Process Science or related field from an accredited college/university.5+ years of experience in process engineering/technology, process development, quality engineering,
or manufacturing.3+ years of experience in a leadership role in a unionized setting.Demonstrated ability to select and apply sound engineering practices and principles to the design and development of high‑volume consumer product processes.Strong background and proven results in leading continuous improvement efforts through the application of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma activities.REQUIRED SKILLSAbility to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.Recognized technical abilities and practical experience with strong capabilities in theory/functionality of manufacturing systems and unit operations; continuous improvement; statistics and analytical methods; process measurement andcontrol; mechanical aptitude; troubleshooting; ability to understand and apply general engineering principles.Manage multiple projects with overlapping tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to lead diverse teams to challenge the status quo to achieve operational improvements.Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and quickly implement them.Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.Fundamental understanding of food standards, safety and sanitary regulations and good manufacturing practices.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITYManages a team of 9 supervisors and oversees a department of approximately 50 hourly associates within a unionized facility.LOCATION OF ROLETorontoSALARY RANGE/COMPENSATION$106,500 to $156,500Pay rate will depend on qualifications and prior experience.This is a vacant position.Job applicants must already be legally eligible to work for Redpath Sugar Ltd. in a full‑time permanent role.
