We are a growing manufacturing organization specializing in metal coating solutions, serving a diverse customer base across multiple industries. With approximately 130 employees and annual revenues exceeding $20 million, we pride ourselves on quality, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout our operations.

Due to internal growth and promotion within our finance team, we are seeking a Cost Accountant to support our production and accounting functions.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the Cost Accountant will play an important role in supporting manufacturing operations through inventory analysis, production costing, job costing, month-end reporting, and cost control initiatives.

This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys working closely with operations and production teams while developing expertise in manufacturing and cost accounting.

Key Responsibilities

Cost Accounting & Inventory Analysis

- Support activity-based and job costing processes across manufacturing operations
- Analyze production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements
- Monitor inventory movement and ensure inventory transactions are accurately reflected within the ERP system
- Perform inventory reconciliations and investigate variances
- Maintain and analyze SKU-level costing information
- Assist with cost allocation and manufacturing reporting

Financial Reporting & Month-End
- Participate in monthly close activities related to inventory, costing, and production accounting




- Prepare and reconcile cost accounting schedules and supporting documentation
- Assist with monthly MIS reporting requirements
- Analyze variances between actual costs and standard costs
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to production costs

Operational Support
- Work closely with production teams to ensure labour hours and production activity are accurately tracked
- Review production data and labour allocations for accuracy
- Assist with ERP data maintenance and reporting
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency and profitability

Qualifications

Required

- 1+ years of cost accounting experience
- 3+yrs of overall accounting experience
- Manufacturing industry experience or robust understanding of manufacturing operations
- Experience with:Inventory reconciliations
- Job costing
- Activity-based costing
- Month-end close processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- ERP system experience
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Preferred
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Experience with SYSPRO ERP or similar manufacturing ERP systems
- Experience supporting production or operational accounting functions
