Role Overview
Abode Financial is an innovative home improvement financing provider that partners with independent dealers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and retailers to help them increase sales by providing their customers with “buy now, pay later” financing options. We leverage a highly technology-enabled process to provide a best-in-class experience to our partners.
We are seeking a high-performing, energetic individual to join our Cambridge team as a Credit and Collections Associate. In this role, you will manage complex collection accounts, guide resolution strategies, and support junior team members. You will report to the Director of Credit and Collections, working closely with stakeholders to help grow the business while delivering a respectful, customer-first collections experience.

Key Responsibilities Collections & Customer Account Management
- Monitor and maintain up-to-date records for customer accounts, and review those in arrears to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
- Notify customers of overdue payments and accounts by phone, mail, and email, including timely follow-up if a reply is not received.
- Professionally handle customer inquiries, resolve payment disputes, process payments and refunds, and provide detailed customer reconciliations and statements as required.
- Trace and locate customers to make payment arrangements, and effectively work with the customer to resolve disputes and delinquencies.
Credit Evaluation & Compliance
- Evaluate and decision consumer and commercial credit applications.
- Ensure all loans and lending procedures comply with regulations.
- Process bankruptcy and consumer proposal filings.
Reporting & Administrative Support
- Prepare and maintain reports related to collection and customer delinquent activities, and identify trends/patterns in delinquency.
- Recommend further action or discontinuation of service when payment is not forthcoming,
including liaising with Credit and Sales teams where necessary.
- Handle day-to-day emails, phone calls from customers, and any ad hoc responsibilities required as part of credit and collections.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2+ years collections experience, preferably within the financial services environment. An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge and understanding of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCP), and strong knowledge of various collection techniques and procedures.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft & Google suite of products, with the ability to quickly learn new systems and procedures.
- Work Style: Self-motivated, results-driven, and highly organized with excellent time management skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple priorities within tight timeframes while maintaining ongoing accuracy.
- Communication: Exceptional customer service and contact management skills, alongside excellent verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Personality: Positive attitude, highly motivated, outgoing, and a confident personality comfortable dealing with clients and other employees. Must possess excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
- Work Authorization: You must be eligible to work in Canada to be selected for this position; we are a Canadian company and will not be sponsoring visas.
