Job Overview
Sanctuary House is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and motivated individual to join our team as a Full-Time Crisis Intervenor. This frontline position provides direct support to women and children experiencing intimate partner violence.
The Crisis Intervenor works within a trauma-informed, client-centred environment, helping residents feel protected, supported, and empowered while maintaining the safety and daily operations of the shelter.
Responsibilities
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, safety planning, and practical assistance to residents.
- Complete intakes, assessments, documentation, and required case notes.
- Support residents with daily needs, goals, referrals, and connections to community resources.
- Answer crisis and support calls and provide information and referrals to community members.
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and a trauma-informed approach.
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the shelter, including maintaining a welcoming and organized environment.
- Work collaboratively with other Sanctuary House staff, community agencies, and service providers.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere strictly to privacy regulations while handling sensitive information
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, Criminal Justice,
or a related field.
- Experience working in crisis intervention, mental health, addictions, family violence, or another human-service setting is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging or high-stress situations.
- Must be able to work three 12-hour shifts per week as part of a rotating 24/7 schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
Sanctuary House is a 24/7 transition house providing safe shelter, crisis intervention, advocacy, outreach, and ongoing support to women and children impacted by intimate partner violence. Our work extends beyond emergency shelter, we support individuals in rebuilding safety, independence, and connection within their communities.
