Taal Dance Academy – Edmonton, AB

Taal Dance Academy is looking for passionate, experienced, and dedicated Bharatanatyam and Kathak Instructors to join our growing dance academy in Edmonton.

We are seeking instructors who are enthusiastic about teaching Indian classical dance, nurturing students, and helping them develop strong technique, confidence, discipline, and a love for the art form.

Responsibilities

- Teach Bharatanatyam and/or Kathak to students across different age groups and skill levels.
- Plan and conduct engaging, structured dance classes.
- Teach foundational techniques, footwork, hand gestures, expressions, compositions, and choreography as appropriate to the dance form.
- Prepare students for performances, showcases, competitions, and community events.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging, and respectful classroom environment.
- Communicate professionally with students and parents regarding class progress and expectations.
- Contribute to performances and academy events when required.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Strong training and proficiency in Bharatanatyam and/or Kathak.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred.
- Formal training/certification in the respective classical dance form is an asset.




- Strong knowledge of classical dance technique, theory, and repertoire.
- Ability to teach beginners as well as intermediate/advanced students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for Indian classical dance and willingness to share and preserve the art form.
- Reliable, skilled, patient, and comfortable working with children, teens, and adults.
- Performance/choreography experience is an asset.
