Senior IT Project Manager (Procurement System Modernization)Requisition #: R26-3528 (GOAPRDJP00000946)Location: Edmonton, AB (Onsite, 5 days per week)Engagement Type: ContractNumber of Resources required: 1Rate (CAD): Up to $120.00 per hour / Commensurate with related experience and market competitivenessTerm: 12 months (2026‐07‐01 to 2027‐06‐30) with 6‐month extension available (up to 18‐month contract)Hours per day: 7.25Security Screening: Standard (Criminal Record Check)Project OverviewProject Name: Procurement System Modernization – Project Manager. The Senior Project Manager reports to the Director, 1GX Strategic and Operational Excellence, and is responsible for coordinating and completing IT projects across contract‐to‐pay, procure‐to‐pay, and source‐to‐contract processes. The role facilitates executive decision‐making, manages project charters, schedules, risk registers, stakeholder relationships, and prepares progress reports for upper management.ResponsibilitiesManage complex procurement system projects spanning contract‐to‐pay, procure‐to‐pay, and source‐to‐contract processes.Lead and support complex scheduling and pay interpretation solutions on behalf of the Public Service Commission and 1GX.Document briefing notes and status reports for Executive Steering Committees at ministerial level.Compile project charters and business/project plans to ensure business objectives and data integrity.Manage multiple projects, resources, and governance structures.Work with project sponsors to ensure effective communication, risk escalation, and stakeholder engagement.Develop and maintain project schedules, estimates, work plans, and corrective actions.Produce deliverables for presentation to internal support teams, steering committees,
and other stakeholders.Provide leadership and assistance for change management and communication support.Work within project management office standards or help define new standards where gaps exist.Mandatory SkillsBachelor degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or equivalent experience.Experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders (≥6 years).Experience developing project deliverables including charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs, closures, and dashboards (≥6 years).Experience in a project management role (≥6 years).Experience managing multiple projects concurrently (≥6 years).Desirable / Nice-to-Have SkillsCurrently active PMP or PGMP Certificate (attach copy).Ability to learn quickly, troubleshoot, work independently and in a team.Ability to manage stress and conflict.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse qualified audiences.Availability for frequent face‐to‐face meetings with clients and technical teams.Experience with positive stakeholder relationships across executive levels (≥4 years).Experience with resourcefulness in making recommendations on complex business issues without formal guidelines (≥4 years).Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, etc.) (≥4 years).Experience leading large complex custom software projects in an environment similar to the Government of Alberta (≥4 years).Experience in an enterprise architect environment (≥4 years).Experience working in or for the public sector (≥4 years).Senior leadership experience in the public sector with knowledge of stakeholders, business functions, and informational requirements (≥4 years).Proven track record of implementing IT solutions with cross‐organization project resources (≥4 years).#J-18808-Ljbffr
