Job Summary To lead and support the dining room team in creating a calm, professional, efficient, and attentive dining experience for residents, while fostering a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for staff.
Culinary Services
- Providing day-to-day direction, support, and supervision to dining room staff.
- Addressing employee concerns and interpersonal conflicts in a fair, respectful, and professional manner, including facilitating discussions related to performance, conduct, communication, teamwork, attendance, and other workplace matters.
- Exercising sound judgment in determining when concerns can be addressed at the supervisory level and when they should be escalated to management and/or Human Resources.
- Maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding resident and employee matters.
- Washing and sanitizing tables and chairs prior to setting for meals;
- Setting up dining room tables in preparation for meal services (lunch & dinner).
- Service of lunch or dinner to residents includes pouring hot and cold beverages, delivering meals to each individual resident, clearing tables of dirty dishes, serving dessert.
- Assisting residents in and out of the dining room safely;
- Bussing tables to specific dirty dish storage areas after meal periods;
- Laundering of dirty linens and table coverings after meal service;
- Washing and sanitizing, etc.
- Resetting the dining room tables in preparation for the next meal service.
- Dry mopping and washing the floor between meal service time.
- Complying with all policies and procedures of Legion Manor Victoria, including the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality, Dress Codes and other items listed in the Employee Handbook.
- Completing additional duties as assigned by supervisory staff or management.
- To ensure residents receive consistent, attentive, respectful,
and efficient service throughout each meal service.
- To ensure the dining room operates in a calm, professional, organized, and safe manner.
- To lead, support, and develop the dining room team, fostering effective communication, teamwork, accountability, and a positive workplace environment.
Responsibilities:
- Moderate levels of responsibility in dealing with daily stock for smooth operations.
- Leading by example and maintaining a professional, respectful, and service-oriented approach when interacting with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Maintaining appropriate confidentiality and discretion when handling employee concerns, interpersonal conflicts, performance matters, and other sensitive information.
- Supporting management with the implementation and communication of workplace policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Interviewing and training new hires in conjunction with our Head Chef.
Experience & Knowledge
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience serving in a fast-paced dining room environment
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with little or no supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and address sensitive or challenging situations with professionalism and sound judgment
- Experience working in a senior living environment preferred
Qualifications/Requirements
- Current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector clearance (or able to obtain)
- Completion of Level 1 Food Safe (or able to obtain)
- Current WHMIS training /certificate (or able to obtain)
- Knowledge of WHMIS Program is considered an asset
- Teamwork, communication and the ability to have fun is a must
Job Type: Full time Pay: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
