Through uncompromising quality, purposeful innovation, and trusted partnerships, we create products and relationships that enrich lives and help shape the future of cannabis.As Senior Manager, Genetics Program, you will lead the development of Rubicon’s breeding and tissue culture capabilities, building the scientific infrastructure and team required to deliver a consistent, high-quality cultivar pipeline. This is a genuine builder role, with the mandate and latitude to design and implement from the ground up.This role is ideally based out of our Squamish location, with an expectation of 5 days on site. This position reports directly to the Director of Cultivation.ResponsibilitiesBreeding ProgramDesign and lead a structured breeding program aligned to Rubicon’s commercial channel strategyEstablish selection criteria, crossing protocols, and evaluation frameworks in collaboration with the Program LeadBuild and maintain a cultivar library with full genetic documentation and phenotypic recordsDevelop data collection standards and trial rubrics that support rigorous, repeatable cultivar evaluationOversee the operations of the breeding facility activities including routine plant care, IPM,



irrigation and basic maintenance of operationsCapability DevelopmentEvaluate and scope emerging capabilities – including tissue culture – to assess feasibility, timing, and fit within the genetics programDevelop and maintain biosecurity and quality standards appropriate to a regulated plant science environmentBuild and document operating SOPs across all program activities to support consistency and scaleTeam Leadership & People DevelopmentBuild, lead, and develop a genetics team capable of supporting a growing commercial pipelineCoach and mentor team members through regular feedback, goal-setting, and deliberate development planningCreate an environment where scientific rigor and continuous learning are embedded in day-to-day practiceIdentify skill gaps and build team capability proactively, ahead of program needsManage program-level budget in partnership with the Program LeadCommercial Pipeline & CollaborationEnsure genetics output consistently meets the quality and timing requirements of commercial cultivationIntegrate post-harvest and processing feedback into cultivar selection and development decisionsServe as the primary liaison between genetics, R&D, and operationsContribute to genetics strategy and multi-year roadmap planningRequired Experience & QualificationsDegree in plant science, botany, horticulture, plant biology,



or a closely related fieldDemonstrated experience in plant breeding in a commercial or research settingHands-on background in plant health, propagation, and controlled growing environmentsProven ability to build scientific or operational programs and protocols from the ground upExperience leading, coaching, and developing a teamStrong data literacy – able to design systems, interpret results, and communicate findings clearlySelf-directed and effective in an entrepreneurial, build-phase environmentPreferred ExperienceExperience in cannabis genetics, cultivation, or licensed productionBackground in tissue culture or other advanced propagation techniquesFamiliarity with biosecurity protocols in a plant propagation contextExperience working across R&D and operations in a production environmentBackground in controlled environment agricultureWhat Success Looks LikeIn your first 12 months, you will have:Delivered a breeding program framework with documented crossing design, selection criteria, and evaluation rubricsCompleted a structured assessment of advanced capabilities – including tissue culture – with a explicit recommendation and path forwardBuilt a data-driven cultivar evaluation process integrated with Rubicon’s cultivation research trial workflowDeveloped your team – each person has a clear role, a development plan, and is performing against itEstablished yourself as a trusted partner to cultivation, operations, and marketingBenefitsBase salary of $100,000–$125,00020% bonus potentialMonthly phone stipendUnlimited vacationMedical and dental benefits after 3 months#J-18808-Ljbffr
