Contract SpecialistCompany:Hudbay MineralsLocation:Copper Mountain Mine, Princeton, British Columbia.Reporting to:Superintendent, Materials Management.The Contracts Specialist is responsible for contract activities, ensuring safe work behaviors, coordination with suppliers, management of RFPs, pricing, negotiations, documentation, and vendor relationships.Please note that this opportunity is NOT a fly-in-fly-out position.Key ResponsibilitiesPractice safe work behaviors and support the Copper Mountain Mine safety culture through participation in daily and monthly safety meetings and initiatives.Provide reports and attend meetings to update on current activities.Coordinate, develop and issue RFPs.Obtain competitive pricing information from vendors and suppliers through the RFP process.Manage service-related contracts and inventory commodities.Negotiate terms and conditions, as well as pricing.Coordinate and host bidders’ meetings when necessary.Coordinate with Document Control to ensure documentation is properly maintained and filed.Prepare and manage Request for Proposal documentation, purchase orders and contracts in accordance with company policies and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.Work with suppliers to reduce costs by identifying opportunities and process improvements.Maintain strong communications with end users/requestors to ensure needs are met in a timely manner.Contribute actively to managing vendor selection, vendor performance and continuous improvement of both the contractual relationship and departmental processes.Coordinate and liaise with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, ensure invoice match approved rates,
address discrepancies and mediate disputes between A/P and vendors.Perform any other responsibilities related to the contracts specialist role as required or as assigned by the department head.Education & ExperiencePost-secondary degree or diploma in a technical discipline or bachelor’s degree in business or closely related field with equivalent experience in technical environments considered an asset.Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation considered an asset.Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant work experience in a Contracts/Procurement role in Mining or similar industrial workplace.Experience with Document Control systems such as SharePoint, Aconex or Kahua.Experience with contract law and ability to draft and amend contract clauses confidently and appropriately.Experience with ERP systems, especially SAP, considered an asset.Proficient user of Google Workspace and Adobe/Nitro/PDF software.Possess a valid Class 5 or 7 driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.Required SkillsExceptional communication and negotiation skills.Proven ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and excellent customer focus.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent grammar and writing skills.Results-oriented,
