We help build homes, highways, hospitals, etc. Our culture focuses on partnerships, relationships, and opportunities for learning and growth.Privacy and Records Manager – Canada & US role ensures VCNA meets privacy and records management obligations across both jurisdictions, safeguarding personal information and overseeing the lifecycle of records. The role embeds privacy‑by‑design into business and IT initiatives, serves as internal expert, and implements records governance best practices. It protects VCNA from regulatory, financial, and reputational risk while enabling secure, compliant, and efficient operations.Key Responsibilities50/50 split between Privacy & Records Management. Own day‑to‑day privacy and records management execution, recognize and address legal interpretation and high‑risk issues.Policy & Procedures: develop, implement, review and advise on policies and procedures.Collaboration: work with VCNA business, corporate groups and global parent to identify and address privacy‑related issues.Response: assist parties in completing policy forms, respond to PII requests.Compliance: act as subject‑matter expert on privacy law; perform compliance monitoring (audits); serve as Chief Privacy Officer under the Quebec Privacy Act; liaise with departmentsand IT.Breach response: work with Breach Coordinator and VCNA Response Team on breach incidents.PIA: evaluate projects against thresholds, conduct PIAs,
ensure mitigation actions.Record Management: participate in document management strategy, advise on collection, storage and deletion of data, oversee records lifecycles, drive behavioral change, provide training, interface proactively, and plan benchmarks.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in law, business, information management, public policy, privacy/data governance or related field. Must have.Preferred certifications: CIPP/C (Canada), CIPP/US (US), CIPM.Experience: 4‑7 years in regulated or industrial environment.Experience: PrivacyLed privacy program or part of program.Managed PIAs/DPIAs, data inventories, incident tracking, regulator interactions.Exposed beyond Ontario framework; policy drafting, roll‑out, behavior change, training plus.Experience: Record ManagementExposure to records management and information governance.Document classification, cleanup initiatives, collaborated with business units.SkillsCommunication & LanguageFluent in English (written and oral).French fluency is an asset.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Stakeholder Management & InfluenceEffectively work with cross‑functional stakeholders.Follow up and drive accountability.Balance collaboration with respectful pushback.Strong interpersonal skills and professional judgment.Organization & Project ManagementStrong organizational and coordination skills.Manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities.Track tasks, deliverables, deadlines; detail‑oriented follow‑through.Nice‑to‑have: familiarity with basic project management approaches.Problem‑Solving & JudgmentSolutions‑oriented mindset.Work with incomplete information; know when to act independently vs. escalation.Sound judgment handling sensitive/confidential data.Self‑Management & Work StyleProactive and self‑directed.Comfortable operating in fast‑paced, multi‑jurisdictional environment.Strong ownership and accountability.Comfortable in less structured environment.Proficiency in Microsoft 365.Track, manage information via spreadsheets or simple tools.Organize and maintain documentation in shared environments.Learn new internal systems without heavy technical support.This role requires collaboration, coordination and driving execution across stakeholders.
