At McInnes Cooper, we believe our people are central to the strength and success of our firm. Our People & Culture team works across the firm’s eight offices to shape an exceptional member experience, strengthen leadership and teams, and ensure our people practices evolve alongside the needs of our members and the firm.

As a source of practical expertise and sound judgement, we work closely with members to navigate complex people matters, develop talent, strengthen culture, and create the conditions for people to grow, contribute, and do their best work.

Role Overview

This is an chance to have meaningful influence on how People & Culture continues to evolve at McInnes Cooper. Reporting to the Managing Director, People & Culture, the Director of People & Culture is a senior member of the People & Culture team, helping shape and deliver the firm’s people strategy while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day delivery and leadership of people programs, services, and support across the firm.

With a strong understanding of the business and the needs of our members, the Director translates organizational priorities into practical people solutions, supports leaders, responds to emerging needs, and advances key People & Culture initiatives across the firm. The role provides hands-on leadership across key areas including employee and labour relations, compensation and total rewards, performance management,



talent and succession planning, policy and program development, and the ongoing evolution of people practices and processes.

The Director also provides direct leadership and coaching to members of the People & Culture team, supporting strong collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and consistent service across the firm.

Who You Are

You are equally comfortable looking ahead and getting into the work. You are a thoughtful, grounded, and relationship-oriented leader who brings sound judgement, curiosity, and pragmatism to your work. You build credibility by listening, asking meaningful questions, understanding the broader context, and approaching situations with fairness, discretion, and integrity.

You bring more than 10 years of progressive People & Culture experience, including significant experience leading people, programs, and complex workplace matters. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Law, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A CPHR designation is considered an asset. Experience in a professional services, multi-location, or similarly complex environment would be an asset.
