Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Drafting Technician to join our construction team. As a Drafting Technician, you’ll work closely with our design, engineering, project management, and production teams throughout the design and construction process.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with drawings, solving problems, and figuring out how a design needs to come together in the real world. You’ll help develop and maintain permit and construction drawings for our modular homes, ensuring designs are accurate, coordinated, and ready for production. You’ll have the opportunity to see your work move from a Revit model on your screen to an actual home being built in our facility and installed on site.

Responsibilities

- Create and modify 2D drawings and 3D models using Revit
- Develop detailed permit, construction, and production drawings for modular homes
- Translate design concepts, sketches, floor plans, and specifications into accurate technical drawings
- Prepare and maintain drawing sets throughout the design and construction process
- Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and construction drawings
- Incorporate structural, mechanical, electrical, and other building requirements into drawings as required
- Coordinate drawings and identify potential conflicts or inconsistencies before they reach production
- Make revisions based on design changes, engineering requirements, site conditions, and production feedback
- Maintain organized CAD/BIM files, drawing revisions, and project documentation
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure designs are practical and suitable for off-site construction
- Assist with developing and refining standard details, assemblies, and modular construction methods
- Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards
- Assist with material takeoffs, schedules, and other project documentation as required
- Participate in design development and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle




- Support projects from initial concept through manufacturing, delivery, and installation
- Communicate clearly with designers, engineers, project managers, trades, and production staff

Requirements

- Proficiency in Revit is required
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Building Technology, Drafting, or equivalent is preferred
- Experience creating detailed architectural or construction drawings
- Strong understanding of construction documentation and building assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of residential construction methods and materials
- Ability to identify design issues and develop practical solutions
- Solid organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions, learn, and contribute
- Ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines

Nice to Have

- Experience with modular or prefabricated construction
- Experience working in residential construction
- Knowledge of the BC Building Code and residential building practices
- Experience coordinating architectural and structural drawings
- Experience with rendering or visualization software
- Experience preparing construction details and building assemblies
- Understanding of manufacturing or off-site construction processes
- Experience working with consultants, engineers, contractors, or trades
- Previous experience working with mass timber, wood framing, or other prefabricated building systems

Pay: $21.75-$31.25 per hour
