Department: Children’s Services Team
Location: Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC) (Petawawa Ontario is in Eastern Ontario, 170 kilometers northwest of Ottawa)
Position Type: 2 Position – Full Time Indefinite
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday
Salary: $23.86 RECE (+ $2.00 wage enhancement when applicable)
Non-ECE $18.92 (+ $2.00 wage enhancement when applicable)
Immediate Supervisor: Daycare Supervisor
Language Requirement: English Mandatory; French An Asset
Screening Requirement: Enhanced Reliability, Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector, IS Security Procurement

The Role(s)
Under the direction of the Daycare Supervisor, the Educator will be responsible to support the delivery and facilitation of the day-to-day operations of the PMFRC Daycare / Nursery School programs as applicable. Duties may also include assisting with programs intended for facilitating children’s development (including social, emotional, physical, and intellectual). The Educator must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, and enjoy working with children.
Direct interaction with the children in all areas of the program and its activities is required.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma and current membership in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) An Asset
- A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in a licensed child care setting is required
- Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to apply, How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years as a qualified learning framework.
- Knowledge of, and ability to comply with, all applicable legislation under Ontario’s Child Care and Early Years Act, ensuring full adherence to Ministry of Education standards.
Experience Requirements
- In applying “How Does Learning Happen” Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years
- In compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act of Ontario
- In compliance to meeting all Ministry Standards as they pertain to the childcare setting
- In a licensed childcare setting is essential
- In early childhood education, early learning, or human services field
- In working with multi-disciplinary team
Conditions of Employment
- Adhere to all PMFRC policies and procedures including policies regarding privacy code and confidentiality.
- Participate/ assist with all special events when required.
- Provide proof of any applicable registration with the respective regulatory body if applicable.
- Ability to provide a clear criminal record check, obtain an enhanced reliability security clearance, and vulnerable sector screening (current within 6 months).
- Valid Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for work related travel and requisite driver’s insurance.
- Travel within the County of Renfrew.
- Thorough understanding of Canadian Armed Forces communities, systems, and policies to effectively assist families in accessing appropriate services and supports.
