Job Summary
GridEx is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong knowledge of power systems and high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical infrastructure for data center and other customer environments. This role is ideal for someone who understands power systems through MV/LV distribution, backup systems, and on-site generation - and can apply that expertise in both technical and client-facing settings.
As part of a small, high-performance team, the successful candidate will help support the design, evaluation, integration, and delivery of electrical power systems and equipment for mission-critical facilities. This includes working with natural gas generation, diesel generators, switchgear, protection systems, and distribution infrastructure to support reliable, resilient data center clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering support for power infrastructure, including high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage systems as well as natural gas and diesel engine generators.
- Interface with clients, internal sales teams, project teams, manufacturers and delivery stakeholders to provide power systems engineering guidance and technical documentation support and guidance from procurement to implementation.
- Support business development process and project implementations involving, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transfer switches, protection and control, and grounding systems.
- Contribute technical expertise for natural gas and diesel generator systems, including integration with facility electrical distribution equipment.
- Support client equipment selection interpreting technical specifications and preparing RFPs, supporting technical bid evaluations and quotation process’ as well as and purchase orders and Bills Of Materials (BOMs).
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs and documentation are client friendly and production-ready. Support addition of and changes to equipment specifications for client.
- Review and modify electrical one-lines, equipment layouts, specifications, design packages and shop drawings to ensure technical accuracy, constructability and client’s requirements are met.
- Lead and ensure compliance with knowledge of applicable codes and standards (eg. UL, CSA, ANSI, EPA emissions regulations, acoustic control)
- Drive successful project execution from early technical discussions through implementation and commissioning support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or power systems with 8+ years of processional experience.
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation in Canada and in good standing.
- Solid familiarity with HV, MV, and LV electrical systems and working knowledge of natural gas generation, diesel generators, and associated balance-of-plant electrical systems.
- Experience with equipment such as switchgear, transformers, breakers, relays, ATS/paralleling gear, UPS systems, and protective devices.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, PDF editors, Word, Excel and Google Docs.
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA standards, and IEEE standards.
- Ability to work across technical, commercial, and client-facing environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supporting technical elements of sales, solution development, or project delivery is an asset.
- Mandarin language skills are strongly preferred; professional fluency is a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in power generation and distribution engineering as well as data center electrical infrastructure and mission-critical power systems.
- Experience with commissioning, field support, or startup activities for electrical infrastructure and generator systems.
- Understanding of grid interconnection, standby power strategies, and resilient energy solutions for large-scale facilities.
- Project management experience would be an asset.

What Else You Need To Know
- Comfortable working in office or field environments. Occasional travel for brief periods of time to client sites may be required. A Class 5 Driver’s License is required.
- Physical demands may include working at heights, in confined spaces or near energized equipment. (appropriate safety training and PPE will be provided)

○ Annual Salary is negotiated based on experience; ○ A full-time hybrid work environment with partial work from home and in office days.
Pay: $120,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
