ADEC Group Inc. | Barrie, Ontario

You see more than what’s shown on the drawings.

You spot the missing detail, question the labour allowance and notice when a supplier’s quote doesn’t quite cover the scope. You know that a good estimate starts with understanding how the work will actually get done.

You enjoy putting the pieces together: drawings, site conditions, material costs, labour hours and the questions that need answering before a price goes out the door.

And when a job is awarded, you want the team delivering it to understand exactly what was priced.

If that sounds like you, we should talk.

The opportunity

ADEC Group brings together businesses in construction and manufacturing. We’re looking for an Electrical Estimator to help price and secure commercial and industrial electrical work, with an emphasis on mechanical and equipment wiring, power distribution, motor controls, VFD installations and retrofit projects.

Estimating will be your primary focus. You’ll also work closely with our project manager, field team and suppliers to help awarded projects get off to a strong start and keep the details moving through construction.

You’ll be part of a small, tight-knit team where people know each other, pitch in and take pride in the work. You’ll work directly with ownership, project management and the field crew, with short lines of communication and room to make a real contribution. If you enjoy having a voice, seeing your ideas put into practice and knowing the difference your work makes, you’ll fit right in.

What you’ll take charge of

- Understand the whole job. Review drawings, specifications,

tender documents and site conditions to establish a clear scope.
- Build the numbers properly. Prepare takeoffs and estimates covering labour, materials, equipment and subcontracted work.
- Ask the right questions. Identify gaps, conflicting information and installation challenges before they become expensive surprises.
- Get solid supplier pricing. Request quotations, compare coverage and confirm lead times, exclusions and alternatives.
- Prepare clear proposals. Spell out what’s included, what’s excluded and the assumptions behind the price.
- Keep opportunities organized. Track bid deadlines, addenda, quotation follow-ups and tender results.
- Hand over a job the team can run. Prepare budgets, material lists, supplier quotations and scope notes for project turnover.
- Support project coordination. Help track purchase orders, material deliveries, shop drawings, submittals and requests for information.
- Keep changes moving. Support pricing for extras and maintain clear records of revisions and supporting documentation.
- Learn from the finished work. Review actual costs and field feedback with the project manager to improve future estimates.

What you’ll bring You have experience estimating commercial or industrial electrical work and can read drawings with an installer’s eye.

You understand that labour productivity, access, sequencing and working conditions all affect the price.

You’re organized enough to manage competing deadlines and confident enough to raise a concern when something doesn’t add up. You can communicate clearly with suppliers, customers and the people doing the work.

You should be comfortable with Excel, digital drawings and electrical estimating software. Experience with Bluebeam, Accubid or similar tools would be valuable.

An electrical trade background or relevant technical education would be an asset. We’re interested in how you think, how thoroughly you price a job and how reliably you follow through.

What’s in it for you?

- Compensation based on your experience and demonstrated capability.
- Varied electrical projects that require practical thinking.
- A close working relationship with project management and the field team.
- Direct access to ownership and a voice in how work is priced and planned.
- The prospect to develop your skills and take on greater responsibility.
- Recognition for careful work that helps win the right jobs and deliver them successfully.

Let’s hear from you Send your résumé and tell us about an estimate where you caught something that others might have missed. What did you notice, and what difference did it make?

We’re interested in the person behind the résumé.

ADEC Group Inc. welcomes applications from qualified candidates. Accommodation is available upon request throughout the recruitment process.

Pay: $90,000.00-$105,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
