King Animal Hospital is seeking skilled and motivated Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) to join our Emergency, Critical Care, and Wards teams.

About Us

King Animal Hospital is a privately owned, state-of-the-art equine and small animal referral and emergency hospital located in King City, Ontario. Our 60,000 sq. ft. facility offers advanced diagnostics, specialized veterinary medicine, and a highly collaborative environment.

Our RVTs work alongside experienced technicians, ACAs, CSRs, emergency veterinarians, and board-certified specialists in areas including Critical Care, Surgery, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Oncology, Anesthesia, and more.

With Emergency, Critical Care, and hospitalized patients under one roof, our RVTs have the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload while developing advanced technical and nursing skills.

The Role – Emergency, Critical Care & Wards RVT

Depending on your experience, interests, and assigned area, you may provide care to patients requiring immediate emergency intervention, intensive monitoring and advanced critical care, or ongoing inpatient nursing and treatment.

Key Responsibilities

Emergency (ER)

- Perform triage and assist with rapid patient assessments and stabilization
- Provide immediate nursing care to urgent and emergent cases
- Assist veterinarians with emergency procedures, diagnostics, and treatments
- Establish IV access, administer medications and fluids, collect samples, and perform technical procedures
- Recognize changes in patient condition and respond quickly and appropriately

Critical Care / ICU

- Provide advanced nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients
- Perform frequent and continuous patient assessments and monitoring
- Administer medications, IV fluids, CRIs, blood products, oxygen therapy, and other prescribed treatments




- Assist with advanced procedures and management of unstable patients
- Recognize subtle changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly to the veterinary team
- Provide detailed nursing care and accurate documentation for patients requiring a high level of monitoring

Wards / Patient Care

- Provide compassionate and attentive nursing care to hospitalized patients
- Administer scheduled medications, treatments, fluid therapy, and nutritional support
- Monitor pain, comfort, appetite, mobility, elimination, and overall patient wellbeing
- Complete regular patient assessments and identify changes in clinical status
- Support patients before and after procedures and throughout their hospitalization and recovery
- Maintain clean, comfortable, organized, and safe patient care areas

Across All Areas

- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EzyVet and VetRadar
- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, specialists, RVTs, ACAs, CSRs, and other members of the hospital team
- Advocate for patient comfort, safety, and quality of care
- Provide compassionate support and explicit communication during challenging and high-stress situations
- Contribute to a collaborative environment where teamwork and continuity of patient care are priorities

What We’re Looking For
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in good standing with the OAVT
- Strong clinical and technical skills with a passion for high-quality patient care
- Ability to remain calm, organized, and adaptable in a busy hospital environment
- Strong patient assessment skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- An interest in Emergency, Critical Care, inpatient nursing, or a combination of these areas
- Must be willing and available to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, based on hospital and departmental needs
- Previous Emergency,



Critical Care, referral, or inpatient experience is an asset, but we are open to training the right candidate
