What You Will Do

Reporting to the Manager, Employee Relations, the incumbent conducts research and analysis to support collective bargaining and Employee Relations activities, participates in bargaining, supports projects and process improvements, manages team resources and databases, assists with grievances, mediations, and arbitrations, and interprets collective agreements, policies, and procedures. The incumbent will also:

- Conduct research and analyze data to support collective bargaining, including economic trends, settlements, arbitration decisions, industry practices, compensation benchmarks, and operational initiatives.
- Lead or support Employee Relations projects, measuring cost savings and process improvements.
- Develop and present collective bargaining and Employee Relations materials, including presentations, reports, briefings, and communications.
- Monitor labour and employment law developments, assess impacts to the TTC, and maintain reference resources.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain qualitative and quantitative data to support informed decision-making and ensure data integrity.
- Support Employee Relations activities, including grievances, mediations, arbitrations, settlement negotiations, wrongful dismissal claims, and advisory services; provide backup coverage for Employee Relations Consultants as needed.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with unions and key stakeholders.
- Prepare and respond to union applications, strikes, picketing matters, and other labour relations proceedings.




- Support duty-to-accommodate cases under the Human Rights Code.Assist in developing and delivering Employee Relations training, briefings, and information sessions.
- Promote respectful, inclusive, and accessible service for employees and customers in compliance with the Ontario Human Rights Code.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?

- Completion of a post-secondary education in Industrial Relations, a combination of education, training, and experience in a union environment deemed to be equivalent.
- Thorough understanding of employee and labour relations practices and principles including the collective bargaining process;
- Familiarity with and ability to interpret Collective Agreements;
- Ability to interpret and apply the Ontario Labour Relations Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, other legislation and related jurisprudence;
- Strong negotiation, mediation and conciliation skills;
- Experience consulting in a unionized environment and applying progressive discipline principles;
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Proficient in the use of a personal computer and related software applications relevant to the work (i.e. Word, Excel, databases, etc.);
- Sound judgement; and well-developed investigative, organizational, interpersonal, time management, and oral and written communication skills;
- Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees.
