Summary
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and resident-focused Environmental Services Supervisor to lead our Environmental Services and Laundry teams. This position oversees housekeeping, laundry, waste management, environmental cleaning, staffing, quality, safety, and departmental operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Infection Prevention and Control to support excellent resident care and a respectful workplace.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, supervise, schedule, coach, and support Environmental Services Workers and Laundry Workers.
· Oversee housekeeping, laundry, floor care, waste management, cleaning schedules, supplies, and equipment.
· Ensure environmental cleaning and disinfection meet infection prevention, long-term care, occupational health and safety, and Accreditation Canada standards.
· Coordinate terminal and enhanced cleaning and support outbreak and emergency response.
· Conduct audits and inspections, address deficiencies, and maintain required departmental records.
· Participate in hiring, orientation, performance management, staff development, and attendance-management processes in collaboration with Human Resources.
· Manage inventory and purchasing, monitor supply use and overtime, and contribute to budget and capital planning.
· Respond respectfully and promptly to resident, family, employee, and operational concerns.
· Must participate/ attend Occupational Health and Safety meetings.
Qualifications
· Post-secondary education in environmental services, hospitality,
health services administration, business administration, or a related field is preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
· At least three years of experience in environmental services, housekeeping, laundry, or a related operation; supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
· Long-term care, health-care, seniors’ care, or other regulated-environment experience is an asset.
· Knowledge of environmental cleaning, laundry practices, infection prevention and control, WHMIS, occupational health and safety, and safe chemical handling.
· Strong leadership, organization, communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving abilities.
· Comfort using email, scheduling systems, word processing, spreadsheets, and electronic records.
· Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position and provide a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector check.
Conditions and Hours of Work
· Permanent full-time management position (1.0 FTE).
· Primarily day shifts, with flexibility required to respond to outbreaks, urgent operational issues, emergencies, and occasional after-hours needs.
· Work is performed throughout a long-term care setting and includes regular walking, standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
