ATS has grown to represent eight world-class Architectural brands. These manufacturers' products can be found in exterior and interior settings within commercial, education, hospitality, medical, and long-term care industries. Our dedicated and knowledgeable team across Canada is committed to delivering the highest level of personalized service to architects, designers, engineers, and distributors.
As our Estimating Manager, you will play a critical dual role: combining hands-on bid production with team leadership and oversight. You will actively prepare and quantify complex estimates while mentoring junior team members, setting estimating standards, and driving strategic bid success for our wall panel, mounting, and building envelope systems. We are looking for a working leader who thrives on staying close to the drawings while guiding a high-performing department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Hands-On Estimating (Doing): Actively perform material takeoffs, quantify bills of materials, and prepare detailed, high-accuracy bid estimates for major and complex architectural projects.
- Team Leadership & Quality Control (Managing): Lead, mentor, and review the output of junior/intermediate estimators; manage departmental workflow, set bidding priorities, and perform final audits on team submissions before tender deadlines.
- Value Engineering & Technical Advice: Interface directly with architects, owners, and general contractors to deliver value engineering options and design recommendations that maintain design intent within budget constraints.
- Sales & Strategy Integration: Partner with outside sales representatives to establish territory pricing strategies, assist on key client bids, and provide senior technical support.
- Process & Tool Improvement:
Refine estimating templates, Bluebeam workflows, and standards to increase team speed and takeoff consistency.
Qualifications:
- Education: College diploma or university degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of architectural estimating experience with demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or managing a team.
- Hands-On Mindset: Must be completely comfortable and eager to manage an active, personal load of complex estimates alongside managerial duties.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in building envelope systems, facades, cladding, and architectural mounting products.
- Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam takeoff software; high proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office suites.
- Documentation & Codes: Deep understanding of architectural drawings, construction documents, specifications, and local Building Codes.
- Bilingualism: Fluency in English and French is a strong asset.
