About The Opportunity Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects. This role involves reviewing project requirements, completing quantity takeoffs, obtaining subcontractor and supplier pricing, and identifying factors that may affect project costs or timelines.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare estimates for a variety of commercial construction projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Complete quantity takeoffs and develop labour, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates.
- Obtain and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Identify potential project risks, exclusions, and cost considerations.
- Assist with preliminary schedules, execution plans, and resource requirements.
- Support proposal development and bid submissions.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants,
subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor market trends, labour costs, and material pricing.
- Maintain organized and accurate estimating documentation.
- Contribute to improvements in estimating tools, processes, and practices.
Ideal Qualifications
- Diploma in Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Engineering, or education in a related discipline.
- Estimating experience within the commercial construction industry.
- Experience working with a general contractor is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
- Experience with Microsoft Project and On-Screen Takeoff is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Revit BIM is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Gold Seal Certification in Estimating is considered an asset.
