Job Summary
Beyond the Lounge is looking for reliable, motivated individuals who enjoy hands-on work and want to be part of a fast-paced creative environment. This is a outstanding opportunity for someone interested in working in Winnipeg's event rental industry, and gaining hands-on experience behind the scenes of a wide variety of events.
Due to the nature of the event industry, this is a flexible, on-call position with hours based on event schedules and your availability. This entry-level position is ideal as a second part-time job for someone looking for flexible employment with varied hours.
For the right individual, there may be also be opportunities to grow into other areas of the business based on your interests, skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload furnishings, bars and décor from trucks
- Install furnishings, bars, and décor on site according to floorplans and direction
- Check furnishings for cleanliness and spot-clean as necessary
- Maintain punctuality and reliability for all scheduled shifts
- Complete warehouse duties, deliveries, pickups and event setups safely, efficiently and professionally within required timelines
Requirements
- Physically fit and able to repeatedly lift or carry items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
- Strong work ethic with the ability to take initiative when required
- Knowledge of and the ability to follow workplace safety procedures
- Basic smartphone skills
- Valid Manitoba driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- CSA -approved protective footwear appropriate for warehouse,
delivery and onsite event work is required
Preferred experience & qualifications
- Previous experience in special events, hospitality, furniture moving, delivery, or related industry skills
- Knowledge of local venues, including hotels, convention centers, loading docks, and event facilities
- General repair skills with ability to perform minor furniture repairs, adjustments, and basic maintenance
- Creative, hands-on and resourceful with an ability to design, build, modify and repair furniture, décor, or event related items, and bring creative ideas to life
- Experience driving medium or large delivery/box trucks (non-air brakes)
- Forklift experience is an asset, training can be provided
Schedule Expectations: Due to the nature of the event industry work may be scheduled around the clock, including daytime, evening, overnight and weekend hours. Hours will vary based on event schedules and your availability with the potential for this role to develop into a permanent part-time or full-time position Compensation: Starting at $20.00 per hour. Starting wage may be higher based on relevant experience, including event industry experience, knowledge of local venues, delivery and setup experience along with other applicable skills.
Shift premium: An additional $3.00 per hour is paid for shifts starting between 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
