We have a long history in the industry, dating back to 1906, and are focused on providing exceptional customer service, safety, and innovation.Job FunctionAssist in the conduct of operations research, technical, economic, environmental and business impact assessments to determine transmission and distribution customer/system needs; assist in the analysis of problems, development of strategies and preferred solutions; and assist in thedelivery of solutions through suppliers and service providers. Assist in the development, definition, and preparation of programs, processes, standards, procedures or methods related to the management of transmission/distribution assets; assist in the preparation of business cases, work specifications and contracts; and assist in thecoordination of activities with service providers. Assist in the development of the business plan, budgets and regulatory submission; and participate in discussions and negotiations with customers, stakeholders, regulatory authorities and service providers.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the conduct of operations research and specialized studies to determine transmission and distribution customer/system needs, analyse problems and develop strategies and preferred solutions, and deliver those solutions through suppliers and service providers.Research resources and contacts, propose recommendations, prepare comprehensive reports and specifications, and present solutions.Review and evaluate industry standards,
keep current with developments in the technical standards environment.Develop and prepare programs, processes, standards, procedures or methods related to assets; review technical standards requirements for equipment; maintain maintenance and asset condition reports; and use database applications to monitor asset performance.Prepare business cases for the management of transmission/distribution assets.Prepare technical standards, work specifications and contracts and provide necessary technical direction to service providers.Coordinate activities with service providers and stakeholders, maintain contract databases, monitor service provider performance, report variances, and direct necessary actions.Assist in monitoring, control and redirection of programs and projects; resolve issues through negotiation; prepare comprehensive reports and presentations.Assist in developing the business plan, budgets and regulatory submissions; prepare management reports; maintain management databases.Ensure service provider capabilities to perform required work and evaluate contracting process for continuous improvement.Participate in discussions and negotiations with customers,
stakeholders and service providers; act as a technical resource or consultant on asset management matters; liaise with internal and external groups; help secure and protectobjectives.Maintain awareness of advancing technology developments and improvements in technical standards.Provide guidance to others, resolve work problems and train recent staff.Perform other duties as required.EducationEngineering knowledge of electrical power systems and facilities related to transmission/distribution/Infromation system assets, mathematics, information technology to conduct theoretical, economic and engineering analytical studies on transmission/distribution systems.Knowledge of technical writing to prepare effective reports.Valuable communication skills for effective presentations.Equivalent to a four‑year university education in a relevant field such as electrical engineering.ExperienceExperience with the operational requirements, policies, practices and procedures governing transmission/distribution/information assets.Experience in the design, performance, commissioning, operation and maintenance of transmission/distribution/information assets.Utility experience with customers and suppliers.Experience applying information technology to management control systems.Experience with development and organization of methods and work.Familiarity with the scope and responsibilities of the position, facilities, organization and operation of related work groups.Understanding of transmission and distribution systems in Ontario and technical standards used by electrical utilities.At least 4 years of experience (up to 6 years) is required.EEO & AccommodationsHydro One welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.
