(employee will be working with or have access to children or vulnerable adults and requires a Criminal Record Check) No In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position. Reporting to the Vice President, Clinical Services, the Executive Director (ED) has a critical and strategic role in building and sustaining the assigned portfolio. As the strategic and clinical governance sponsor of the defined service and/or community area, the ED works with their portfolio partners to effectively integrate and standardize major components of a complex and comprehensive health system.

Working as part of a co-management team in partnership with the Executive Medical Director, the ED is jointly responsible for the overall leadership and direction for programs and services within the assigned portfolio. The ED ensures optimal patient care and outcomes within the vision, mission and values of Island Health,



is responsible for effective and client-focused delivery of health and clinical services, community engagement, and provides leadership and support to address issues that cross sites and community boundaries. This will all occur within the context of a rapidly evolving healthcare workplace.

The ED directs the development and implementation of service delivery models, business plans, priorities, goals and operating budget, including people, financial and physical resources.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in a health-related discipline and at least fifteen (15) years' progressive senior management experience in health care/program management.

Skills And Abilities - Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to budgetary, staffing, quality and strategic initiatives.

- Demonstrated strong leadership skills - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt readily to rapid and changing environments and the ability to adapt with initiative.
- Ability to interact professionally with various levels of staff both internally and externally.
- In-depth understanding of health services operations.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

LEADS in a Caring Environment Framework: https://www.leadscanada.net/site/framework The salary range for this position is $174,258 (min) to $217,822 (midpoint) to $261,387 (max) per annum (based on 1 FTE).

Salary placement is between min and midpoint, based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.This Executive Director position will report to Vice President, Reka Gustafson.
