Real Nice Hair Co. is a multicultural, inclusive salon in East Vancouver looking for experienced hairstylists, barbers and independent hair professionals to join our growing team.

We have a strong focus on curly and textured hair and would especially love to meet stylists who already work with curls or who are genuinely interested in developing a specialization in textured hair. You don’t need to know everything — advanced education and mentorship in curly and textured hair are available — but you should already have professional experience behind the chair and a desire to keep learning.

Our clientele is diverse in hair texture, culture, gender and personal style, and creating a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through our doors is a big part of who we are.

We are open to employee or chair rental for the right independent professional, including hairstylists, barbers, braiders, locticians and professionals specializing in protective styles. We would particularly love to add services and expertise that complement what our existing team already offers.

Responsibilities

Provide professional hair services within your areas of training and expertise.

Deliver thoughtful consultations and create services suited to each client’s hair, lifestyle and goals.

Work confidently with a diverse clientele and be interested in continuing to develop your skills with different hair textures.

Maintain professional sanitation, cleanliness and client-care standards.

Contribute to a welcoming, collaborative salon environment.

Recommend home care and retail products when they genuinely support the client’s hair and goals.

Continue developing your technical skills through education, mentorship and hands-on experience.

Qualifications

Professional salon, barbering, braiding, loc or protective-styling experience appropriate to the position you’re applying for.

A portfolio or examples of your work.

Experience working with curly/textured hair OR a genuine interest in developing this specialization.





Strong consultation and client-care skills.

Comfortable working with clients from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, hair textures, genders and identities.

Reliable, professional and able to work independently behind the chair.

Open to education, collaboration and continued professional development.

We offer a more supported approach to chair rental. Independent professionals can have the opportunity to integrate into our Phorest system, allowing you to benefit from an established booking and client-management system rather than having to build everything from scratch.

Chair renters may also have the option to participate in our salon colour program, giving you access to our professional colour inventory and systems without having to purchase and maintain a complete colour inventory of your own.

Depending on the arrangement, we can also accommodate integrated payment processing, creating an option for independent stylists who want the freedom of chair rental without having to manage every piece of salon infrastructure themselves.

We welcome inquiries from hairstylists, barbers, curly/textured-hair specialists, braiders, locticians and protective-style specialists.

Employee compensation: $19/hour guaranteed base wage or 50% service commission, whichever is greater, plus 10% retail commission.

Chair rental: Terms and schedule are negotiable depending on the qualified and services offered.

Pay: $19.00-$44.00 per hour
