We’re a busy family with three children — two boys, ages 9 and 7, and a 4-year-old girl — looking for someone to become an extra set of hands around our home.
Both parents work, and we’re looking for someone who can help with both the kids and the everyday household tasks that come with running a busy family.
This isn’t really a traditional nanny or babysitting position, and it’s not a full-time housekeeper position either. The best way to describe what we need is almost like a “third parent” — someone dependable who can jump in wherever help is needed.
The job includes
- Helping with the kids when they’re home
- Getting them outside — walks, park trips, playing outside, etc.
- Helping with school or activity drop-offs and pickups when needed
- Preparing simple meals, snacks and lunches
- Helping with general food and meal prep
- Cleaning up the kitchen after meals
- Loading/unloading the dishwasher and putting dishes away
- Wiping down counters, tables and other surfaces
- Sweeping/vacuuming when needed
- General tidying and picking up around the house
- Keeping the kids’ bedrooms and play areas organized
- Putting on loads of laundry
- Folding and putting away clothes
- Changing/straightening bedding when needed
- Taking out garbage or handling other basic household tasks
- Generally helping keep the house clean,
organized and running smoothly
There is definitely cleaning involved in this position, but we’re talking about normal, everyday household cleaning and tidying — not heavy or deep cleaning. We’re not expecting someone to spend the day scrubbing bathrooms, washing windows or doing professional housekeeping. Some days may involve more time with the kids, while other days there may be more laundry, food prep, tidying or cleaning to catch up on. We need someone comfortable with both sides of the job.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and responsible
- Warm and great with kids
- Proactive and doesn’t need to be told every little thing that needs doing
- Clean, tidy and organized
- Comfortable cooking/preparing basic meals
- Active and willing to get the kids outside
- Comfortable driving children when needed
- A safe driver with a valid driver’s licence
- Flexible and willing to help wherever needed
- Interested in becoming a consistent part of our family’s routine
Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who can make life easier for two busy working parents — someone we trust with our kids, our home, and the everyday things that need to get done. Pay: $20.00-$27.00 per hour
