The Director of Finance & Accounting is a senior financial leader responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting and financial operations across the organization. This position provides leadership over financial reporting, job cost accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and accounting processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Leadership

Provide leadership and oversight of accounting and finance activities across the organization.

Partner with the CFO and executive leadership in developing and executing the company’s financial strategy.

Establish and maintain consistent accounting policies, procedures, and financial controls throughout the organization.

Promote financial accountability throughout the organization.

Financial Reporting

Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, timely, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

Establish and monitor accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP.

Identify financial risks, trends, and opportunities and provide recommendations to executive leadership.

Prepare financial analysis and reporting for the CFO, executive leadership, shareholders, and other stakeholders.

Internal Controls & Risk Management

Develop and maintain a strong internal control workplace, establishing appropriate segregation of duties and financial controls.

Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

Assist with the integration of new divisions, acquisitions, and organizational changes.

Analysis & Forecasting

Develop annual budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with division managers and executive leaders. Monitor actual results, analyze trends, and provide analysis to leadership.

Review monthly WIP schedules,



analyzing percentage-of-completion calculations. Identify significant changes and trends in gross margin.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

Monitor Company cash flow, working capital requirements, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.

Prepare cash flow forecast. Identify opportunities to improve working capital and cash conversion.

Banking, Bonding, & External Relationships

Assist with management of banking relationships, credit facilities, and liquidity.

Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, bonding companies, insurance providers, and other external stakeholders.

Support annual financial statement audits and tax return preparation.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.

Maintain appropriate documentation and support for audit and tax requirements.

Assist with bonding and surety reporting, including financial statements, WIP schedules, backlog, and other required financial information

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members. Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards.

Promote collaboration between accounting and division leaders, project teams, and operations.

Provide training on construction accounting, job cost, WIP, and financial reporting to others throughout the organization.

Required Experience, Education, and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field

CPA, CCIFP, CMA, or other relevant qualified certification

8 to 10 years of progressive accounting and finance experience

Experience in the construction industry, preferably with a multi-division or multi-entity contractor

Strong knowledge of construction accounting, financial reporting, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

Valid driver’s license

Must have reliable transportation to the workplace(s)/ job location(s).

Ability to successfully pass a background check related to driving (for any driver)

Ability to pass drug screening.

Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred education and experience Experience with a construction accounting system such as Viewpoint Spectrum, Viewpoint Vista, Sage, Foundation, or similar platforms
