Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) interested in pursuing a long-term career in fertility nursing. The successful candidate will provide exemplary nursing care to patients navigating their fertility journey and contribute significantly to treatment outcomes within a collaborative and supportive environment. This autonomous role requires strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities, as well as a capacity for self-direction.
Key Responsibilities
· Deliver nursing care to patients undergoing fertility treatments, including medication administration, intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedures, and patient education regarding medications
· Conduct fertility-related assessments utilizing 3D imaging technology and venipuncture
as well as operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment
· Provide emotional support and counselling to patients throughout the fertility treatment process
· Engage in continuous professional development to enhance expertise in the evolving field of fertility care. Self-directed learning is fundamental to success in the role.
· Ensure precise documentation of patient records, protocol forms, and nursing notes.
· Maintain a safe and hygienic work environment, adhering strictly to infection control protocols and industry best practices.
Note: The successful candidate will have thorough, individualized training suited to their needs. Training will be provided at a speed appropriate for the candidates knowledge and consolidation of concepts.
Qualifications
· Current registration as an RPN/RN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
· Active annual membership with RPNAO
· Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) or willingness to obtain
· Previous fertility nursing experience is not required; however, the ideal candidate must demonstrate a commitment to learning and adaptability
· Venipuncture experience preferred, but willingness to learn is essential
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting while managing multiple priorities and maintaining accuracy
· Exceptional verbal and written communication capabilities
· Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated empathy
· Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team
· Consistent work attendance record
