What you will be doing!

- Supporting waste management operations by collecting, processing, transporting, and delivering clean waste and recyclable materials across the site.
- Operating forklifts to transport recyclable materials and waste streams for on-site and off-site processing and disposal.
- Performing spotter responsibilities while working around heavy equipment and waste handling operations.
- Acting as a facility representative when interacting with waste transportation, recycling, and disposal service providers.
- Supporting waste shipments and coordinating with on-site waste generators to ensure efficient waste handling activities.
- Operating vehicle monitors, weight scales, and operational tracking equipment to support waste processing activities.
- Sorting waste materials and recyclable streams into appropriate diversion pathways for processing and shipment.
- Performing safe lifting and material handling activities as part of daily waste processing operations.
- Loading and unloading waste bins, materials, supplies, and equipment as required.
- Operating bag monitoring equipment to support waste clearance activities.
- Maintaining waste tracking records and operational documentation.
- Following CNL safety procedures, policies, and operational standards.
- Reporting safety concerns and supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.
- Maintaining housekeeping standards throughout the facility and processing yard.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What We Are Looking For

- Education
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's licence with the ability to operate site vehicles as required.
- Ability and willingness to complete job-specific training required to support Clearable Waste Operations activities.

- Experience

- Experience identifying recyclable waste streams and non-conforming materials.
- Experience, or willingness to learn, forklift operation.
- Experience performing manual labour in an industrial or operational environment.
- Experience using hand tools and working around equipment.




- Familiarity with Radiation Protection principles is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with Chalk River Laboratories facilities and operations is considered an asset.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions while working independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate equipment following training and established procedures.
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize assigned work activities efficiently.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and operational documentation.
- Strong commitment to safety, housekeeping, and procedural compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of personnel and represent the organization professionally.
- Applied knowledge of waste handling, recycling, and material segregation practices.
- Working knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing (PPE&C;) requirements and safe work practices.
- Basic proficiency using Outlook, LearnCNL, Oracle, and other computer-based systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and supporting operational objectives in a fast-paced environment.
- Physically capable of performing manual labour, including lifting, carrying, sorting, and handling waste materials.

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required

- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions

- Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
- This position is part of the LA Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the LA Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
