Medical Laboratory Technologist C - Laboratory ServicesReq ID:221376Location:Eastern Zone, Cape Breton Regional HospitalDepartment:PLM Specimen Collection REGType of Employment:Permanent Hourly FT (100%) x 1Posting Closing Date:11-Jun-26About the OpportunityThe Medical Laboratory Technologist C (MLT-C) is responsible (in collaboration with key partnerships) for the assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation, and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge and the translation of knowledge to practice. The prime focus of the MLT-C is to coordinate, support, maintain and deliver competency training based on laboratory SOPs and policies in partnership with curriculum leads (Departments/Divisions of Faculty of Medicine, other Clinical Educators) via classroom, procedural skill/task training, simulation learning, clinical learning, and/or online learning strategies, while advancing practice. The MLT-C practices according to the Registered Health Professionals Network Act, and in accordance with profession specific acts/legislation, their professional regulatory body and in accordance with Standards of Practice.The MLT-C demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice. They exhibit the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework. This framework is grounded in theories of adult and concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice.The MLT-C assists with the oversight and/or implementation of work processes, redirects resources to respond to fluctuations in operational workload. Works within a team comprised predominantly of MLA's and supports the Manager with scheduling and replacement of shifts. Collects data and performs audits, works independently, uses valuable judgment, applies sound troubleshooting skills and demonstrates excellent customer service.
