Under the direction of the President, the Financial Controller is responsible for the performance and oversight of the accounting function.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervision of the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Perform cost accounting and cash management
- Regular bank reconciliations
- Cost tracking against established budgets
- Tracking and reporting of the facility’s spending against pre-determined budgets
- Creation, updating, and maintenance of all Bills of Materials for the facility
- Inventory accounting
- Monitoring and replenishing inventory of raw materials and packaging materials for the facility
- Preparation of monthly financial statements and other financial reports
- Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and all relevant accounting related regulations
- Responsibility for the timely and accurate processing of the bi-weekly payrolls, and all related general ledger reporting and statutory submissions
- Administration of the calculations, tracking, and accruals for vacations
- Responsibility for benefits administration
- Responsibility for day-to-day IT administration
- Coordination and supervision of Temporary Labour agencies
- Responsible for the maintenance of files related to company property distribution and training records
- Responsible for tasks related to the general administration of the office
- Organization of weekly operational meetings
Skills and Education:
- Post-secondary education in a field related to ‘Accounting’
- 5-8 years’ work experience in an accounting role
- Accounting designation
- Experience with Macola
- Excellent computer skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Previous experience with accounting software required
- Previous experience with MRP, WMS software an asset; previous experience with the Macola system an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to plan, assign, coordinate, organize and prioritize work and to train and supervise staff
- Robust attention to detail.
