What you will do:
Reporting to Coordinator,
Food Services, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Support the coordination of food service operations at City of Waterloo recreation facilities, including concessions, restaurant operations, caterings and licensed areas where alcohol is served.
- Assist with the onboarding, training, and ongoing support of part-time casual staff.
- Prepare and serve food and beverages while maintaining high standards of quality, presentation, and customer service.
- Assign daily tasks and provide leadership, direction, and coaching to part-time casual staff to support effective operations.
- Follow all food safety regulations, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) legislation and workplace procedures to maintain a secure environment for customers and staff.
- Support the development and implementation of safe work procedures related to food preparation, food handling, and the safe operation of equipment.
- Identify, address, and report workplace health and safety hazards, risks, and incidents in accordance with City policies and legislative requirements.
- Assist with monthly inventory counts, stock control, ordering, and the organization of food and beverage supplies.
- Work collaboratively with facility staff, and other City teams to deliver high-quality food and beverage services and enhance the customer experience.

What you will bring:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in a food and beverage service environment. Previous supervisory or team lead experience is preferred.
- Valid Smart Serve Certification and knowledge of applicable Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) legislation is required.
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certification is required, along with a strong understanding of health and safety practices.
- Experience with invoicing, cash, deposits, cash handling controls and inventory control.
- Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead team members and interact professionally with City staff and the public.
- Ability and willingness to travel between worksites, as required, using reliable, safe, and efficient transportation.
- Strong commitment to delivering quality customer service.
- A passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment.

What we will require:
- A Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City.
- Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualification, if applicable.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Work Location: This position will work at a variety of facilities including RIM Park Manulife Sportsplex & Healthy Living Centre, Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex & Community Pavilion, Albert McCormick Community Centre and Park Inn.
Hours of work:
- Up to 24 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled hours are based on operational requirements and may vary throughout the year. Food Services operates seven days a week, with shifts scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. Seasonal fluctuations in operating hours may occur, and candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs.
- Please note, hours of work may be outside of public transportation operation hours.
