For accommodation needs, please contact [email protected] at any stage of the hiring process.About the OpportunityAs a Director, Accounting Services and Controller at CLBC, you will lead the Accounting Services department, overseeing the full-scale accounting and financial reporting process for CLBC. This role plays a key part in the execution of strategic development and management of the department, shaping and executing financial strategies while ensuring strong financial governance to support CLBC's long‑term objectives, strategic organizational vision, and operational efficiency. Specifically, the role is responsible for overseeing CLBC's financial reporting framework, managing accounting policies, systems, and procedures to improve organizational efficiency, and developing tools and procedures to support financial reporting and analysis. In addition, the role ensures the implementation of financial internal controls, oversees investment disbursement,



and affirms receivable processes maintain financial integrity and resource optimization.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships and provide comprehensive insights and strategic advice to a wide range of partners, including CLBC board members, the Senior Management Team, ministries, and other government agencies, auditors, and key service providers.Assess and develop accounting policies and reports in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Public Sector Accounting Standards and other applicable frameworks; oversee their implementation to ensure compliance.Provide leadership in the development, monitoring, analysis, assessment and reporting, internally and externally, on the financial performance of CLBC's operations.Oversee the financial reporting framework to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.Initiate new financial practices, generate process redesign, and provide financial management expertise to the Executive.Design, develop, implement and document business processes to ensure effective management of manual and automated financial systems and controls.Oversee internal control processes, conduct risk assessments, mitigate the risk of fraud, and undertake other compliance initiatives.Manage both external and internal audits, collaborating closely with auditors to ensure efficient execution and the identification of key insights that support compliance, risk management, and the organization's overall financial objectives.Lead a combined team of over 30 employees,



including the Manager of Financial Reporting and the Manager of Accounts Payable; foster a positive, collaborative, inclusive, high‑performing team environment and champion employee engagement and continuous improvement.What You'll BringMinimum of 7‑10 years of direct experience in Accounting Services, Controller, or a similar role, with direct experience as a people leader.A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field.A Chartered Professional Accountant designation and membership in positive standing with Chartered Professional Accountants Canada (asset).Direct experience managing a complex, high‑volume financial accounting operation.Direct experience reviewing and analysing multi‑faceted policy and/or program/funding issues, assessing options, and developing related information reports.Direct experience developing and managing project budgets and expenditures.Experience leading in a unionized environment (asset).Experience in a public sector organization (asset).Recognition that a combination of transferable skills, knowledge, lived experience, and comparable qualifications may be considered.Travel: Occasionally required; however, it is infrequent and occurs on a limited, as‑needed basis.BenefitsEmployer‑paid extended health and dental plan.A BC Public Service Pension plan with employer contributions.Generous vacation plus additional personal days.Paid maternity/parental/adoption leave.Life insurance, paid sick days, and, if needed, long‑term disability.Wellness supports, including an Employee and Family Assistance Program.Professional development funds and resources to encourage continuous learning and skill development.Access to government discounts on travel, cell phones, and more.Additional InformationSuccessful applicants are subject to a Criminal Record Check.An eligibility list for internal candidates may be established.Closing date: June 9, 2026.#J-18808-Ljbffr
