About The Role We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Frontend Engineer to lead the long-term technical vision for frontend engineering at ClickUp. This strategic and hands-on leadership role involves defining architectural strategies across major product surfaces, solving complex technical challenges, and influencing how teams build and ship scalable solutions.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, design, backend, and integrations to ensure that ClickUp’s frontend systems remain fast, reliable, and adaptable as the company continues to grow. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background with the ability to operate at both strategic and implementation levels, especially in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Your leadership will help shape the future of our frontend architecture, elevating quality,



performance, and developer productivity across the organization.

Qualifications

- 10+ years of frontend engineering experience, including extensive expertise in large-scale web applications
- Proficiency in Angular, React, TypeScript, RxJS, and NgRx or similar state management systems
- Proven track record of designing and architecting complex frontend systems used by large user bases
- Deep understanding of performance optimization, frontend scalability, and maintainable application design
- Experience leading technical strategy across multiple teams or product areas
- Strong judgment in balancing development speed, product quality, and long-term architecture
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of influencing across functions and organizational levels
- Experience mentoring senior and staff engineers, fostering a high-performing engineering culture
- Knowledge of testing infrastructure and ability to develop testing strategies for large-scale features

- Provide technical leadership on high-impact initiatives, helping teams navigate ambiguous or difficult problems
- Guide teams toward pragmatic decisions that balance development speed with long-term product quality
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
- Influence product roadmaps and organizational decisions through sound technical judgment and strategic partnership
