Low Income People Involvement of Nipissing

North Bay

About Us

We are a small, dedicated not-for-profit charity that supports low-income, vulnerable families and individuals in our community. Because we are an extremely small team,

every single person here counts. Our daily presence provides a vital anchor for the people we serve. If you are an experienced professional looking to make a practical difference and you thrive on a rewarding challenge, this role is a great fit.

About the Role

While our daily routine focuses on providing high-quality customer service, resource navigation, and trusteeship support, our work also requires adaptability. Frontline realities mean that immediate crisis intervention is sometimes required.

There will be days when our work shifts unexpectedly, requiring you to change your priorities immediately. Because we are an exceptionally small team, you must be fully capable of working independently, managing your own caseload, and making confident decisions within the scope of your position.

We need experienced advocates who can pivot seamlessly between high-detail paperwork, client intake, trusteeship casework, and urgent crisis response. You will be a primary point of contact for people seeking help through our shelter-related and homelessness-prevention programs.

The Impact You Will Make

- Serve as the first point of contact for clients via phone, email, or the front door,

delivering high-quality, respectful customer service.
- Interview individuals and families to assess their situation, determine eligibility,

and identify the types of services required.
- Collect, verify, track, and maintain accurate client information through LIPI’s

approval processes and internal databases.
- Provide intake, advocacy/navigation (with direction), and support for programs

including the Homelessness Prevention Program, Utility/Rent Arrears, Trusteeship/BIT, Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, Santa Needs Help

Toy Drive, and related services.

- Work independently to manage your daily tasks, prioritize your workload, and

drive client progress forward with minimal supervision.
- Use your experience to help clients navigate complex systems and connect with

the exact resources, housing, or support they need.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention when urgent situations arise, remaining

calm and utilizing your training to help stabilize the situation.
- Build and maintain exact client files that clearly document history, needs, and

progress, ensuring a high level of detail for advocacy and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with a tight-knit team to solve problems and support one

another through intense or fast-changing days.
- Perform general office duties, community fundraising and any other tasks

assigned by the Program Director or their designate. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (evenings and/or weekends may occasionally be required to meet client needs or program delivery, e.g. LIPI Toy Drive).

What You Bring

- Post-secondary diploma in Social Services or a related field, or an acceptable

combination of education and experience delivering exceptional customer service.
- Minimum seven (7) years of experience in a frontline role serving the public,

preferably in a social service setting.
- Proven case management experience and the ability to work independently while

managing a caseload.
- Strong knowledge of community resources in the Nipissing District and the ability

to effectively connect clients to appropriate supports.

- High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience entering and

tracking information in databases.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, communication, and interpersonal

skills.
- Detail-oriented with keen observation skills and the ability to interpret and explain

legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a stressful, fast-paced environment and to

recognize emergency situations.
- Demonstrated respect for confidentiality and sensitive personal information.
- Strong independent initiative — a self-starter who can confidently run frontline

operations and solve problems.
- High adaptability — the ability to pivot instantly from detailed desk work to active

frontline or crisis response.
- Excellent reliability and consistent attendance (critical on a very small team).
- Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Enhanced and Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check required within three

(3) months of employment.
- French verbal and written skills are an asset.

What We Offer

- The chance to use your expertise directly and see meaningful results in the lives

of vulnerable community members.
- A varied work environment that balances technical casework, client advocacy,

trusteeship support, and critical frontline response.
- A highly supportive team culture where your safety, boundaries, and experience

are respected and valued.
- Competitive hourly wage (range to be confirmed based on experience; previous

related roles have ranged approximately $31.49 - $36.51/hour).
- Full employee benefits including dental care and extended health care.
- A team-focused environment that encourages work-life balance and respects the

right to disconnect. Pay: $31.49-$36.51 per hour

Work Location: In person
